I think someone may have to re-explain some of the key points of this club, I get the feeling I missed something important.

The main thing is that there will be a set date that we watch the film and then discussing it, that way everyone is fresh on the movie and ready to go.

I think the date will be a about week after the announcement so that everyone has time to get a copy of the picture, then we have two nights in which to watch the film. Of course if you can't watch it on one of the two nights specified, you can just watch it the night after or whatever and then join the thread.

Aside from making sure everyone is full bottle in the discussion, it will also help people avoid spoilers.

That's quite ironic given that this forum has provided much information about ripping DVD's that were rented from Netflix or Redbox.  And nobody has ever complained about that.

If it's not for profit, I can't see why there'd be any problem with the copying of movies for people to watch once.  It's like borrowing a film from a friend. 

Onto deadlines, I think Mr Grug is probably right about the date usually being a week after the nomination of the movie.  We can always change that if availability becomes a problem or enough people agree to watch it sooner, but 7 days seems about right.  As for the pick, I've seen it, but not for a while and I remember it being kinda goofy fun.  Vincent Price is always worth watching, so I'll have to get it again.

The idea I had - and we'll see if it works out - is to give a date or maybe two or three days in which to watch the movie.  That way, everyone sees it around the same time and the film will be fresher in people's minds.

Yeah we don't have to all watch it at the same time just with in the same few days.  These sort of things are always better when the film or book is fresh in people's minds.  It takes less time to watch a movie then read a book so there is a shorter time span given to watch the movie in.
