I'm sure a modicum of my enthusiasm for this stems from my yearning for the guys to tackle the Blair Witch. But still, this was a whole lot of fun for me.

Drunk on hurricanes, about to go in and watch this movie.   I normally watch the movie BEFORE watching the riffed version, but from what I am seeing, that would not be a good idea here.

And the descent into madness begins.............

I gave it a six.  It was decent but far from their best.

What the hell was that crap?    I have had scarier bowls of oatmeal.........

Seriously, can NO ONE make a scary movie?

The Ring was kinda scary and Creep had a couple good scenes in it...... but nothing recently.

That would have been scarier.

Really, what was the test audience screaming at?

"The Descent" was probably the last truly good scary movie.  Before that, you may have to go all the way back to "The Shining".  Some would qualify "Silence of the Lambs" tho.

The Descent was pretty good.

For low budge, I recomment Creep.

I gave it an 8, but I was rather pleased with the trax.  I would love to see them take on the Blair Witch Project...  Anyways, very glad to have another "horror" film riffed.

Horror movies never scare me.  This, I think, is because the fear is unrelatable.  Ghosts and demons and curses and whatnot are completely fictional.  I NEVER have this experience of "Oh damn... this could happen for real.  I'm scared."

Really, the kinds of movies that scare me are the ones which deal with violent, menacing criminals.  Not serial killers or bloodthirsty psychopaths, but your more garden variety, "turn down the wrong alley and be in the wrong place at the wrong time" methodical, calm criminals.

I'm really curious what movies people not scared by this movie DO consider very scary.

For me, it's not entire movies but scenes in movies.  When Goth Chick stepped out of the TV at the end in The Ring that scared the crap out of me.  That effect was so well done.  Most of The Devil's advocate was retarded but the one scene when the woman picked up the mirror shard and had that demon grin before she cut herself, that was fucking creepy.  In Mirrors, another generally retarded movie but fun movie because Jack Bauer was in it, when that woman looked into the mirror and then pulled her own jaw off that was very creepy too.  And in the miniseries Rose Red when the ghosts would get red eyes and look creepy at you, that gave me chills, man.  That was nice.

I'm trying to think of the last movie I saw as an adult that scared me from beginning to end and I can't right now.

PS.  If disease creeps you out, check out the indie movie "Carriers" starring the new Jim Kirk of all people.  It's not scary per se but it's very creepy in a lot of places.  And Chris Pine's acting really impressed me in this one.

Stir of Echoes and some of season one(1) of Supernatural (specifically, the Bloody Mary episode) scared the hell out of me.

Stir of Echoes was one of the only movies that has EVER left me with that creeped out uneasy feeling, where I ended up afraid to sit alone in a room with a small lamp on.  Saw it in the theatre and immediately got it on DVD when it came out.  Even the menu leaves me weirded out.

Illeana Douglas's enormous eyes creep me out too.

I gave it an 8. I hated it on first viewing, but then again I was zonked out on Lunesta at the time. I enjoyed it much more on second viewing. I loved the stuff about Tommy Wiseau's ass (that doesn't sound creepy does it?)

RoninFox

Almost dipped down to a seven for all the kinda plain "this is boring" kinda riffs, but it redeemed itself with a lot of funny bits.  My girlfriend and I have been laughing all day over Kevin's mumbling conversation with himself.  Went with an eight.

Also, kinda weird, I realized that the version of this I'd already seen is not on the dvd we bought for the riff, and it doesn't have the official "alternate ending" either.  I think it was the original film festival cut or something.  There were all kinds of little differences, like all the blurred logos that are there now were unblurred, there was more footage about the other girl who went through the exorcism, and the ending was much MUCH better.

For the curious:
