......if they were to focus on his "world's greatest detective" aspects.

Haven't seen very much of that so far.  Yeah, he and Alfred did some CSI work with the bullet but hate to see where he'd be without Fox....or Gordon,  He's mainly there to punch people out, drive around, do his impression of a skyscraper gargoyle and brood....

Quote2. The mincing, maniacal Joker knock-off Riddler, as seen in the Adam West series

And Jim Carrey's performance.

Quote from: Mad Sharktopus on February 18, 2010, 12:07:27 AMImagine, if you will, an epidemic of copycat themed criminals influenced by the Joker's high-profile reign of terror: the Riddler, the Mad Hatter, Harley Quinn, maybe a fully off-his-rocker Scarecrow. (Sort of like the Jokerz gangs in Batman: Beyond.)

I actually really like that idea. Fits in with the established Batman copycats.

Or rather there could be lots of Joker copycats and Batman thinks this is just another one but really Riddler scorns Joker for being so chaotic and order-free and decides to one-up him by being the his intellectual superior and defeating the Batman.

It's funny, Warners Bros. and DC is doing what's right, rewarding the hard work of Nolan for resurrecting the Batman franchise, while Sony and Marvel did basically the exact opposite with Raimi and the Spider-man franchise.
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

ScottotD

I don't think Marvel has much of a say with Spider-Man.

Warners seems to respect artists and understand that quality will win out over cheap pops in the long run, go them.

Maybe when it comes to movies at present.....but there's been times when it wasn't that way.

And they're the ones who bought and screwed up Rhino Records/Video.

Well, the producers had everything to do with the tampering of what Raimi wanted for Spider-man 3 which did not include Gwen Stacy and Venom. Would it have been a better film with Sandman and Vulture? Considering Spider-man 1 & 2 I have to say yes. Sony and the producers should have trusted Raimi more because of the artistic success of 1 & 2 and not pressured him to add things that made the movie disjointed after their script had been finished.

That would be excellent.  He's a wonderful actor.

I'd like that, but it seems really out of left field.

True.  Then again, just because they bring Fichtner back doesn't mean he'd have to be that same character.  Especially if his villain is in some kind of make up or mask.

I wonder how Christopher Nolan got along with Leonardo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt on the set of Inception, considering his (completely understandable) tendency to work with the same actors on different projects...

Crap, I really need to play that game... Found those game interviews:

That's definitely an interesting take on The Riddler. It'd fit within the world of Nolan's Batman universe, though.

bratpop

Don't give me that nonsense about "respect." If Nolan said he'll do it, he'll do it. It's a no-brainer. There's no debate. They'd only replace him if he makes less money or doesn't want to do another sequel. There is no respect. There is only money. And Zuul.

Yep dead on and I think he'd be a great replacement based on his roles.
