Back in the days before dirt, Saturday Night Live held a "contest" titled "Anyone can Host."   I don't really know if it was legitimate or not, but it was kinda fun to see regular people with the Saturday Night Live crew doing a show.  I wonder if that could be done with a Rifftrax in the same spirit.  Host a contest for a fan to riff with Mike.  Just a thought.

Cool idea and all... but really i just wanted to finally comment on your Emperor Norton sig! My girlfriend works at Norton's Vault in San Francisco, which is obviously named after the guy. Her boss is big into SF history and has all sortsa' Norton stuff all over the place, including a huge painted portrait. So assuming that's who's in your sig... i just wanted to rant a little and give you a virtual high-five. Of course, if that's not a picture of Emperor Norton... then, um nevermind.

We now take you back to your regularly scheduled thread:

And I always thought it was a nod to this famous Norton:

Yes, that is the Real Norton I.  In 2001 I visited San Francisco, but didn't see one thing on Norton while I was there!  I visited the grave and the corner where he collapsed and died.  Nothing to commemorate him.  I have a number of books on his life, some quite rare.  He is one of my favorite Americans.

Speaking of favorite semi-obscure Americans, I once wrote a 11 page report on this guy...

James J. Hill

He was a Minnesotan railroad baron, that helped connect much of the US (especially Minnesota). I read most of his biography and he was one of the first conservationists (ie; before it had a name ;) ) Cool guy - got the idea from one of my favorite books - The Great Gatsby ... "If he'd of lived, he'd of been a great man. A man like James J. Hill."

It's only a great idea if they pick me to do it.

I don't know how much of a "regular person" he is, but according to his forum posts, it looks like Lowtax of SomethingAwful will indeed be riffing with Mike on an upcoming RiffTrax (hopefully something by Uwe Boll or Troll 2).

Cool, that show sounds fun, I'm glad you had a good time.

On a related note, I'm flying to San Diego next Friday to do a Rifftrax with Mike. I can't reveal the film we're doing, but it will be a pleasant surprise! We'll also be talking business stuff, so hopefully SA will be doing more partner-type-stuff with Mike and Rifftrax in the future.
