Alleged

I have the theatrical version on the way, I'm sure that's the right one.  If not, no big deal.

It's usually a safe bet that they'll do the theatrical version of any given movie.  xXx, Fellowship, X-Men, and Daredevil all have director's cuts, but they always have riffed the theatrical version instead.

Dr. Moreau is called a director's cut, but it's the only version available...

That was my rationale for getting the theatrical version, and it makes sense.

Dr. Moreau is in a class by itself.

X-Men doesn't actually have a director's cut. The "version 1.5" DVD is the same cut of the movie, just with new special features and a preview of X-Men 2. It was released just to cash in on the upcoming sequel.

I've been thinking about it, and it's just as well that they're riffing the theatrical cut of Daredevil, because that version sucks hard. I do seriously urge people to give the director's cut a look, though, if only to get a better idea of the movie Mark Steven Johnson wanted to make before Fox butchered it. It's a hell of a lot better.

God, this is gonna cause all kinds of problems, I'm gonna have to pay special attention on the dvd edition I buy :(  In the end though I'm glad they're doing the theatrical... thats the film I know and love hate :)

As for finding the right DVD, the director's cut is more prevelant - as it should be - so watch out if you want to buy the theatrical cut for Rifftrax. If it says "A bold new vision," or "definitive" on the box, it's the director's cut. Also, the theatrical cut is about 30 minutes shorter. Fox felt it necessary to cut out all that silly plot and character development nonsense.

Mike's blog says Daredevil will be the movie for rifftrax live.  Are they just going to record the audio of the live show and release that as a rifftrax?

I doubt it, since the download is supposed to be available on Thursday. I'd bet that Mike, Kevin, and Bill already recorded the mp3 as rehearsal for the live shows.

Well I feel slightly less bad about missing the live show now.

I guess you can throw me into the pile that thought Daredevil was a decent enough flick. Of course, I'm not a comic book fan at all. So I go into the comic book movies basically ignorant of the canon and therefore it never bothers me if they butcher it. :)

The major talking point that I see from the Daredevil apologists is that the directors cut is "far superior."  So far I haven't seen anyone who's said "both versions of this movie are very stupid."  I find this a bit surprising, because when watching the movie, not once did I think, "I would find this character infinitely more likeable if there were more backstory" or "This is preposterous, but with additional footage, I might truly embrace one of the more absurd superhero concepts there is" or "this fight between jennifer garner and ben affleck within five minutes of them meeting on a crowded playground is incredibly stupid, but maybe the director had meant it to have a completely different meaning but we'll never know because fox butchered it" or "This bullseye character...he's annoying and stereotypical, but maybe with a few more scenes of his character, my opinion would have changed completely."

Is there anyone out there who thinks the directors cut is just as dumb as the real movie, or has everyone drank the kool aid on that particular point?  Discuss.

I'm arguing from the low ground here because I haven't seen the Director's cut, but I would say that some of elements of the story would become more plausible if there were more time for the film to develop.  To use an example, I think that the theatrical release of Kingdom of Heaven is pretty average and yet the extended release is very good.  The extra half an hour given to the DVD helps to explain some of the motivations and the more extreme decisions the characters make.  And there's a reason why people specify "the director's cut" when they say they love Blade Runner.  The elements that were added (and removed) were not primarily based on making the film more marketable, but because Ridley Scott felt the film would be better with those changes.

I giggled my way through the theatrical cut a while back, and have not once considered giving the director's cut a chance to win me over. I think it's safe to say that Mike, Bill and Kevin are the only men on Earth who could have convinced me to watch it again - in any version.

If this scene is in the director's cut, then the director's cut still sucks.

I'm with you Conor.  Daredevil was putrid.
