They managed to be TOO fast-paced while still being boring? That's quite the feat, I must say.

Bingo. That's why I don't like Peter Jackson's films. His style of filmmaking creates a double-standard in terms of pacing that, as I've mentioned, is unwatchable. Jackson's pacing is incredibly poor. When your film moves so fast that it's incomprehensible, but at the same time is fucking boring as hell, you've made a shitty film. And that's why his LOTR trilogy sucks.

Yeah, this is definitely going to be a "we're gonna have to agree to disagree" thing, since I can't find common ground on a single viewpoint.

I can believe most of that, but seriously, "The CGI is unconvincing?" Are you serious, or are you just looking for more things to hate?
