Guys in masks really, honestly don't bother me all that much.  It's part of the fun of Star Wars and I'll take a lame mask over the best CGI character in the world any day, because there's a "flesh and blood" quality to the mask that is just missing with the computer effects.  As I've said before, the entire third act of II, I was just sitting there going, "This... is... a cartoon."

QuoteIt's not up there but I'm going with the whole "But I thought you said the problem with the galaxy is that people don't help one another?" scene when they are having dinner with Anakin and Schmi (the mother). I hate that scene.

Seconded.

QuoteI had to go with Amidala speaking in any scene.  She rivaled Jar-Jar for complete lack of dignity, though it wasn't actually necessary for her to speak to accomplish this.

Quadrupled.

Um........twelfthed..........if that's even a word.  If it isn't, I don't care.  I agree with you, and I relish the opportunity to create a new dipthong.
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

Nerdiness aside (cos frankly, who here isn't? We're MST/Rifftrax fans and we post on an internet message board...), that's an explanation by someone else after the fact, just like the whole Black Holes/Maw Installation crap about Kessel was. Lucas clearly meant it to be through the planet.

Not really, I have one of those incredible cross sections books which shows maps of certain places in the star wars universe and it shows a layout of the planet core which by the looks of it is only a bunch of underwater caves no more than 200 feet under ground the planet surface. Its just basically a passage way called "The Planet Core" by the gungans since it goes so deep underground, that's how it got its name. The actual planet core of Naboo is filled with lava and plasma ( the bright stuff coming up the tubes you see during the fight with Darth Maul ).

And how is this not an after-the-fact explanation?

Just to play devil's advocate... Maybe the cross section book was released before the movie?

I'm not going to defend Lucas' overall handling of the prequels, but I'm not so cynical as to deny the benefit of the doubt concerning things like the definition of a 'parsac' in the Star Wars universe or how the imaginary alien race defines "the planet core". For all we know, Gungans could think that Naboo is flat or some shit. There is a point where even debating it becomes many times sillier than what was presented on screen to begin with.

If you have to buy a book for the movie to make sense it's a bad movie.

I voted for any time the queen opens her stupid mouth.

I figured out why hermione talks with that weird "EMPHASIZE every OTHER word I say" thing in 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone".  Amidala was a guest-speaker at the Hogwarts Oral Communications course.
