I guess this type of poll has sort of been done before. But I just wanted to get a general idea of how many people are watching rifftrax via reauthoring compared to people who sync it up with an iPod/MP3 player.

I currently use an MP3 player hooked into my sound system, but I would prefer to author them on a DVD all in one for ease of re-playability... if I knew a good way to do it... or was smarter... or had the proper equipment... the list goes on and on...

I do mix them but not as DVDs, I just leave them as dual-audio OGG files and store them on my fileserver (alongside my MST3K collection) for easy viewing access  :)

Since you view them on a computer, are you mixing the NTSC version or the PAL?

I would love to re-author the movies with Rifftrax inserted, but I'm just too damn lazy, so I'll stick with the DVD/iPod combo for now.

I re-author on my iMac using Handbrake, iMovie, and iDVD.

I re-author the DVD for the ones I own. It's not terribly difficult once you get a few under your belt, I'd guess it only takes an hour and a half or maybe two hours to do one. Out of that, only 30-40 mins or so is actual labor. The rest is just the CPU and/or the DVD burner chugging along while I do something else. Most of the tools are either freeware or things I already owned anyways (such as Goldwave).

I figured there would be more people who sync it up with an ipod/mp3 player...oh well...

Maybe the board attracts the more tech-savvey. They come for help on reauthoring and stay for the debates on Peter Jackson and Abortion. (Just you wait! :^)) I can't imagine most of the Rifftrax purchasers reauthor..

I think overall rifftrax roundtable members are geeks (we have a gaming board after all).  I freely and proudly admit to being a geek so that's not a slight.  Geeks are more likely to take the time to reauthor the DVDs.  I've only reauthored 3 (and one was Nestor so that doesn't count) but if I had the time I would do more just so I could easily rewatch.

It takes a certain amount of tech savvy to figure out how to watch a DVD and play an MP3 at the same time (don't laugh, some people couldn't figure it out and you know it).  I think only someone with a little tech background would even be interested so being what it is, rifftrax would attract someone with a bit of tech in their blood.

I have to. I'm a vampire.

Oh crap, did I let that slip again?  Sarah Michelle Geller will be knocking in no time.

With the exception of Moreau and Nestor, PAL.

Johnny_Short_Torso

My method is a bit complicated, but I record the movie to my hard drive with Studio 9 and a DVC90 video device, then I can add the Rifftrax on a secondary audio track when I render the movie and the Rifftrax together. I can also snip the Mp3 and drag and drop it in the right place so it syncs up perfectly with the movie throughout it. Complicated yes, but very, very cool imho.  ;D

You don't have a DVDROM on your PC to just rip the DVD rather than capture it?
