STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL

Ohhhhhh the paaaaaaaaaain. I'm still in trauma over Bea Arthur's song, Harvey Korman's humiliations, Luke and Leia's awful makeup, the bad writing and music, the disgusting lower lip of scratchy or itchy or whatever, the evil 70s rock and pop musical numbers, and the evil bad cartoon. And to top it all off, the characters are from the original--in other words, somehow it hurts more that it really is Mark Hamill, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, etc etc. But I think the most agonizing part about this movie is the awful circus that's in the first few minutes. "You know Elton John would pay handsomly if only this device were real." Bill's cries of agony mirror my own. And yet, I've seen this rifftrax three times now. WHy do I put myself through such agony?? Because it's hilarious. Best rifftrax ever. Can't imagine watching this without the trax. Thus my hat is off to the Three Amigos and their creative team.

I loved the riffing on the horrid Jefferson Starship song.

Twilight. Three word review: Dumber than advertised.  ::)

Pirates of the Carribean:

Great movie, great riffing.  Once again I laughed embarrasedly at the perfect line "I... regret not...arguing more... on the internet..." Sooooooo perfect.

Predator:

Great movie, really good riffing.  As good a solo effort as this is for Mike, I still prefer the group Riffs (as probably do they), but I still laughed aloud plenty of times.  Wouldn't mind a redo as a three-riffer but it would need more jokes.

Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.   Every time they start humming the Indiana Jones theme, I had to start snickering.   I'm surprised they didn't riff more on the utter ridiculousness of the fridge, though.  Despite the fact each Indy movie seems to have one insanely implausible action, and this was one no different, it's still pretty crazy.  And wildly maligned.

However, I can't seem to finish this damn thing.   Both times I've settled in to watch, something distracts me.  I have yet to finish the actual Rifftrax.

I'm also pretty ambivalent on riffing.  I'll watch it for movies I like as well as loathe.  Like Twilight: never would I have seen it without Rifftrax.  It's impossible.  My brain can't repel idiocy of that magnitude.   If I had a copy of Willy Wonka, I'd be watching it.  But I'm also a weirdo who likes to put on the commentary tracks in movies all the time, even if it's my first time watching it.  (Cannibal!  The Musical is that much funnier for doing so.)

I have a similar problem.  I stopped at the part with the mummy Aztec zombie people jumping out at Indy and LeBoof.  Every time I go back to it, I get 3 lines in and just can't garner the interest back to finish it.  This has been going on since March.  ::)

You had me up until "...first time watching."  I love to watch movies with commentaries (film historian ones are the best; no question).  But on your first viewing?  What a weirdo. ;)

Got a sudden urge to celebrate St. Porkins Day, so I popped in the Star Wars riff.  Definitely one that has grown on me with repeated viewings, though the Kessel jokes still bug me.

THE QUEEN!!!

watched a bunch of shorts:

Toward Emotional Maturity (I notice it's the same narrator in Habit Patterns)
One Got Fat (scary---those masks remind me of the music video "We Don't Need No Education")
Drugs Are Like That (best one ever--very bad examples of what drugs are like)
Alcohol Trigger Films (STILL don't know what the heck that's about)
Overcoming Fear (why was he even in the pool if he was afraid?!?!)

The house on haunted hill.

So who's party was it?

I'm still trying to figure out why the cheating wife and the psychiatrist lover didn't find it odd that - off all the people in the world to have there for the party/dare - Hubby just happened to invite him?  They never wondered if he was on to them at all?

Also how did those ropes move again?  How did the wife not see the strings?  Why was there a giant tub of acid in the basement in the first place?

The Grudge

Solid work by the duo.  I've enjoyed the few horror films they've done.  I miss these two person riffs they used to do. When I look at my favortite Rifftrax many  of them are Mike/Kevin or Mike/Bill riffs.

Subjected another pair of friends to The Room.  Oh, hai, third time watching.
