While I enjoy the fun-factor the series does represent in droves, it was how it placed my mind into overdrive once it got its feet firmly entrenched after "Becoming". There's been only one season that successfully pulled off both of those aspects, Season Three. Season Six was definitely way cerebral, but "Life Serial" still is the episode that makes me laugh harder than any other. I'll forever stand in defense of Season Six and its no frills approach. It was very refreshing.

All I know is that if they were going to work that hard to make life the big bad and ruin Willow's life by killing the person she loved most, maybe the least they could do is not give her a new girlfriend like thirteen episodes later.

Ahhh, you can thank your Season Seven for that! I'm telling you that season is awful!!   :D

Definitely agree with you about season 3.  :)

Buffy -Gasms indeed! I agree with everything Dignan and Ortega have said. Amazing Episode that really showed how human Buffy is! When SMG says "I don't want to die" I feel in love with the show right then

Phrophecy Girl really set the stage for the second and third season. We already knew that Buffy was a rule breaker, but this episode really hit that point home. And like anything else that Joss does we know that there will be consequences for Buffy's death.
This episode also brought the rest of the gang together in a big way, even Cordy, which was a shock to me the first time I saw this ep. At this point I was already hooked on buffy, the first two eps did it for me, and I always loved vampire stories.
Can't wait for season 2 :)

Oh, almost forgot, Jenny Calendar was hot.

"How come she's  in the club?"

dig and Dru summarized PG very well.  The conclusion of the episode was a little less than desirable for me, but the episode became the definitive game changer, of a handful, for the series. Moreover, my most memorable moments came w/ Buffy quitting and then returning to her duty after the Sunnydale massacre, setting forth her dynamic moral compass (it's so awesome) into motion, and the series begun to explore the fundamental question of ethics, who's happier...the just or unjust person? And by god, did they ever explore it!

This was that episode, and it always makes me feel warm & fuzzy. The start of it all.  :)

Prophecy Girl might  have been the first episode to primarily utilize Christophe Beck's score instead of the cheesy synth stuff most of the first season used, too.

I'm going to just come out and say it, I really loved the sixth season.  I liked the fact that it was sad and depressing and real (well, for the most part).  I loved the evil trio, I loved Smashed & Older and Faraway (I kinda got a mutant crush on Clem) and I really liked it when Anya became a demon again.

Great season and I will fist fight people who wrong it...well, maybe I'll just extend my middle finger and bid you good day.

OK....can we put a capper on the later seasons till we get there?  I'll wait a day to see if anyone else has anything they'd like to add on Season 1 in general, then it's on to Season 2!

I'll try to be good, really I will but, forgive me for blowing a wad all over my Buffy-gasm

I'll just add that looking back season 1 was kind of cheesey, but it was enough to get me hooked, at that point there was really nothing else like it on TV, and (aside from Angel) Joss has continued his origiality streak.

Ok, I won't talk about season 6 anymore until we get to season 6.  :)

So can we touch on "School Hard"/"Halloween"/"Lie to Me"/"When She Was Bad", and then skip over to "Innocence"?
