This deserves more attention than the last movie I watched thread.  I am the type who is against war and killing but has grown jaded to images of death and murder.  They have even become integrated into my entertainment.  So when this film about the massacre in Beirut chokes me up and makes my eyes water... I more than just recommend it.

Waltz with Bashir is an animated documentary... which works better than you might think.  It's the story of the director trying to remember what happened in the war, for he has forgot almost all of it over the years, not really wanting to remember.  He seeks out people who might have been with him and interviews them.  Everything is animated.  The interviews flow seamlessly into what in a normal documentary would be reenactments, but in the world of the film are more than that.  They have the ability to show a truth that reenactments can not.  Of course it's not exactly what happened, but you get the feeling of what happened, the emotion, and the detachment you have to go through to cope with something like that.  The film deals with memory and truth and what actually happened versus how you remember things.  Animation was the perfect way to depict that theme, especially animation as gritty and stylized as this.

it's a very powerful film.  I know a few of you have seen it and I want to know your thoughts, and here's a trailer for those who have yet to.  It's not playing everywhere, but if you get a chance, take it.
