I think I like this one the most. They are finally interacting with each other and laughing at riffs. If i have to see a repeat at the live show I hope it is this one.

I noticed the the "laughing at their own riffs" thing, and i love when that happens. They were so stiff and scripted when they started CT. So even if they've written "laugh here" in their scripts, it still makes the episode feel a little more... warm or something, i don't know. Less like we're watching them do their jobs, or like a stand-up comedian who's bored with his own routine. This one seemed fun!

I did wonder about that.  Josh's riff about his last day on MST3k got a big laugh, and while I don't think it was improvised, I wonder if he said something like: "I'm going to riff in this spot, and to keep the reaction genuine, you won't know what it is."

At least now you can't see Joel flipping script pages anymore when he had the podium. Also why no credit for Dave "Gruber" Allen??? That is without a doubt him in the last two episodes but no credit at the end.

I got mine and about a week ago. But had to wait to watch it on a count that i had gallbladder surgery. After seeing it. I think its my second favorite.I know that alot people didnt like The Oozing Skull. But for some reason its still my favorite. On this one the riff started out slow and got really good towards the end. But as much as like these, i kinda wish they would spice thing up a little more. I mean i like cheesy horror movies as much as the next guy. But give me a stupid teen flick from the 50's or something.

Yeah, I'd kinda like a little more variety too.

Still, as long as they are funny, I'll keep buying them!

I was starting to feel optimistic about these after the Santa Claus one.  I thought the first four were average at best but I thought they had turned a corner with the santa remake. I laughed quite a bit and thought it was funnier than the original MST episode.

Unfortunately, I thought they took a few steps back with this new one.  I agree that they are playing off of each other better now but I barely laughed through the whole thing. My least favorite to date.

My copy finally arrived last night (damn you, Atlantic Ocean!) and and yeah, it's easily the best of the bunch for me. I noticed that they seem to be laughing a lot more at each other's jokes and it's odd how much that seems to matter (especially the chuckling after Josh's "This reminds me of my last day at MST" line).

Without any laughing, we're watching a group of people doing a job.  Maybe their job is more fun than mine, but it's still just a job.

With at least some laughing, we're watching people sitting around and laughing at goofy parts of a bad movie.

Of course, with too much laughing, it turns into a "laugh track", and that will totally ruin it.  And you also have to reserve time for "the laughing", time which might be better spent with another riff.  So I can understand that they don't want to overdo the laughs, but it helps to have at least a few laughs.  And in the case of Josh's line, it's easy for us (the audience) to believe that the joke would strike everyone funny.  In fact, if they didn't laugh, it might come across like Josh was truly bitter, and that the others might be annoyed that he brought it up.

Also, a lot of "funny" is based on a group dynamic.  5 people "in a room" and 1 guy says something and no one else laughs/reacts, you might not process it as funny either.

I think good humor builds, it doesn't plod.
