This is not quite the same as "movies that just make no sense whatsoever," mind you.

-Regarding "Akira"

To qualify for this topic, a movie has too appear to be coherent the first time round.

Another example I've thought of is Rise of the Silver Surfer. I just kinda coasted with the film's logic. It wasn't until a friend brought it up that I went "Oh yeah, if the surfer could kill Galactus, why didn't he just do so in the first place, instead of going 'oh well, galactus has my world hostage'."

Jessica Alba's invisibilty somehow got all of them around a roadblock in the first movie.  After that, I think anything goes.

My question is though... are we talking about movies that become more (instead of less) incoherent the next few times you watch, or just the moments where fridge logic smacks you across the face and squicks you out?

The Prestige. Seemed reasonable enough the first time around and it was well made... but

There were other holes too but I can't remember them right now.

Also, someone once remarked as they walked past me, "...it's basically a door, you know?..."

WHAT THE HELL IS BASICALLY A DOOR WITHOUT BEING A DOOR?

I'd go back to college to get you the answer to that question, but if it weren't for my horse...

The Usual Suspects - Dude must have some laser sharp eyes to see all the stuff he stole off the wall. Not that that's the only thing that didn't make sense on later viewings.

The Dark Knight - Just how many variables were in the Joker's plan to get caught and tossed in jail?

 Thank you. You have lifted a great weight from my mind.

Right.  "White Noise."  I think I saw this movie twice, once, regular, and once with Director/Actor commentary.  I liked it at first and thought it spooktacular, but, the more I thought about it, the more it irked me which prompted me to re-watch with commentary, HOPING for an explination...to no avail.  If anything, the commentary just provided more questions in the obstinancy of the Director passing off the movie as legit.

*time passes*

I just went to another forum I frequent where I wrote a review of this, it turns out, I did watch it twice, but, it didn't make sense after the first time.  I can be generic here, but, for every "If A is the case, then, it is neither B nor C", but, If A is the case, then the questions of X, Y, and Z arises.  If B is the case, then A cannot be the case, but, that leaves X, W, V, and U to be answered and so on.....

If anybody wants the full review/rant, as I'm not going to spam this forum with it, message me and I'll c&p it for you.

Also, I always thought that line heard by Black was more akin to 'A butterfly in Asia beating it's wings affects stock prices in the US...'  It's just something led to something that led to something that, for some non-random reason, led to the girl going to college.  It's not that strange of a statement, but, it makes for a good joke from a commedian with a high blood pressure stage presence.
