Talk Radio.

A spoonful of Eric Bogosian makes the Oliver Stone go down.

Russell Mulcahy, the guy that made Highlander has made a lot of really bad movies (including Highlander 2), but Highlander is fracking sweet.

Quoteall of his films are tremendously overrated EXCEPT the BTTF trilogy and Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Fixed it for you.

Joel Schumacher - The Lost Boys.

Robert Iscove (From Justin to Kelly) - I know it's not a movie, but he directed The Flash. Which is better than Batman. So... that.

And possibly the all time number one - A Christmas Story by Bob Clark (Porky's, Porky's II, Baby Geniuses and SuperBabies). And I will not give him a free pass for Black Christmas. He's a bad director. Or more accurately, a director of bad movies.

But it bears mentioning that time has rendered a lot of that movie unintentional comedy (check out Corey Haim's fashions!). Also, watch the beach party scene, and tell me that Schumacher's poorly-concealed homosexuality doesn't blare through.

Tripe

See even with some good stuff that Joel produces (like that lovely window display in that Gotham department store) he screws up the ending, like Falling Down. Love that film up to about the 2/3 point and then it just goes all gerplueee.

May I suggest you try Clark's "Murder by Decree", one of the better Sherlock Holmes movies?

Schumacher - Falling Down. Still a great movie, even though I could totally see it being a better movie in more competent hands.

Tarantino - Pulp Fiction. The only one of his I like.

Hideaki Anno - Nadia: Secret of Blue Water. Anno is an overrated, self-indulgent hack, and Evangelion sucks dirt, but this was a good early series.

Hayao Miyazaki - Kiki's Delivery Service. His other movies are boring, overlong, preachy, and lack so much as a speck of genuine fun, but Kiki's is delightful.

Michael Mann - Last of the Mohicans. Actually a vast improvement on the book (just ask Mark Twain about all that was wrong with the original). But as for Mann in general - what can you say about a director who screwed up the movie version of his own TV series?

Nicholas Meyer - Star Trek II: the Wrath of Khan The other movies ranged from so-so to awful, but WoK is not only great Trek, but stands as a great movie in its own right.

Kevin Smith - Clerks. Many people have a great story inside them waiting to be told. Kevin Smith had one. One. And then he kept retelling it, over and over and over again. He hasn't had a fresh idea in 15 years, and yet they keep letting him make movies. Please, somebody send him to go write comic books, or something.

He also did Manhunter, which I thought was really good. Maybe not as good as Silence of the Lambs, but certainly better than the other Lecter flicks.

Really? My thoughts are almost the exact opposite.

And Heat! Collateral Damage and The Insider are pretty decent, too.

I've never been a fan of Kiki or Totoro for that matter, but the escapism Spirited Away presents & epic scope of Princess Mononoke has left me speechless after multiple viewings. Long live, Ashitaka and San....
