It doesn't sound like you guys have a plan to combat this Michael Moore that's so critical of the his own country. It sounds like you're just nitpicking.

It's all a matter of the prism you view things with.  If you agree with Michael Moore on some things then criticism of him is just nitpicking.  But if you flip it around, and you don't agree with him, what's to say the other side isn't valid?

And apparently, yes, the plan was to combat Michael Moore with this movie - it just doesn't help that most great film makers are crazy liberals ;)

BTW - If anyone wants to see his new movie....it will not be in theaters, but as a download from his website.  It is about him running around the country in 2004 during his Get out the vote campaign.  I am not recommending it obviously, but letting people know that it is out there.  I will watch it just for research purposes.

We're expecting a report on it in 5,000 words or less.

Dim of the Yard

I'm still expecting a report on An American Carol.

And apparently, Moore is filming a new movie for next year.  I know, like, nothing about it, but IMDb says it, so it must be true.

I didn't like any of Team America. It was somewhat funnier than anything Stone and Parker had done on South Park since about 2004, but it still had them trying to reach above their level of talent. It was like watching Pauly Shore attempt Shakespeare. It's no wonder that planned episode that Norman Lear was supposed to write fell through.

Not to get off subject, but I saw this just now.  I disagree.  I think they've always had done alot with a little, especially their Cannibal! movie.

I saw Team America recently, I saw it the first time a few years back, but seeing it again with the new perspective I hve on this election...  well, I really liked it, it was silly and over the top but I think it had a good message.  Probably very dated politically, but I think it's still relevant.

Does it have anything to do with the fact that Liberals can see the world in more than just "black or white" like the Conservatives do?

I guess I have to point out Moore's flat out lies.  Please tell me you don't believe you believe Moore's propaganda.

Is that supposed to be a yes or no question? If so that's kind of ridiculous. That "You believe it all or none of it." bullshit is absurd.

Trying to drag that one into this thread, too, huh?

And yeah, I know, I started it.

I certainly don't believe everything the guy says, but enough of it is true that it makes you think.

Uh ...no.

It means that most filmmakers, like most musicians, artists and dancers, probably went to an arts or liberal arts school.  They also probably studied on either the West or East coast, and once you get in a certain groove you find other artsy people who share the same ideals you do and you carry them through in your work and relationships.  Come on, most artists and filmmakers are liberal, it's just part of the ground work.  Alot of people feel guilty that they make money off of art.

I think you're falling into a trap of taking quotes of Moore's criticisms of America and pretending he only has a negative opinion of America.
Criticism of our Government is Patriotic.

Please read the quotes again. I intentionally avoided anything where he's simply criticizing the government (which I agree IS a patriotic act, at least in the abstract); the quotes I posted are all Moore insulting his fellow Americans, which is nothing to do with patriotism, and instead illustrates his hateful, negative outlook.

And I, for one, don't think Moore has that much influence (hell, look at Slacker Uprising, which is all about his efforts in 2004 to incite a youth voter "revolution," something which ended up not happening); I just worry about anybody confusing Moore's work with a reasoned presentation of fact.
