Why does the mother of the boy have a church member pick up her son and take him back to his house? Seems really odd. I know if I had a kid, he screwed up, I'm not calling up the deacon of the church and saying "Hey look, my kid screwed up. Could you drop what you are doing and go pick him up and babysit him for the night? Kaythnxsbye."

People lived in more close-knit communities back then. It also enables the director to pad this little story with more long-winded preaching and SHAME shame shame while she's knocking back fermented dandylion juice.

That was my biggest issue with it. Most parents would probably want their child home.

This is one of those shorts that I probably wouldn't have thought was silly as a kid, but watching it as an adult it's pretty weird.
