Seriously.  I just turned 29 and I freaking knew it was the Go-Gos.

Makes me feel old, but not as old as the GH3 forums if you read the "what's the best new band you've discovered thanks to this game" threads seeing kids who just heard Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins for the first time.

Wow. That list is pretty damn impressive. And it'll get me to shut up about Duran Duran.  But seriously, guys. Enough with the Tenacious D. Musically, they're not that good of a band.

If that setlist turns out to be true I only have one gripe.  Why did they decide to put Drain You instead of Smells Like Teen Spirit on disc?  After all, we know that they're going to be putting out Nirvana's Nevermind in the near future.  So, it wouldn't have been an issue for them to do so.  I mean, if you're trying to outdo GHIV's setlist you'd think that they'd choose a more well known Nirvana track.

While I'm on that topic it's strange that they chose to put That's What You Get instead of Misery Business on disc.

Oh well.  It's a minor issue that I have with it...if this setlist turns out to be true.  Other than that it looks really good.  I'll be pre-ordering it either way.

If this turns out to be true, this is an epic win.

Rock Band 2 to give Rock Band 1 owners free DLC of RB1?

Drain You was in one of the RB2 screen shots.

Unfortunately that IGN editor was talking out of their ass about the free RB1 songs, just kotaku didn't follow up on it, they frequently seem to be a bit slow on stuff like that.

All of the RB1 content in RB2 rumours come out of the fact that in that RB2 playlist screen shot, the new songs have a '2' icon next to them, and the downloaded songs have the 'download' icon next to them, leading lots of people to wonder if there will be a '1' icon as well.

Wasn't there an initial report out there that said Rock Band 2 would have over 120 songs on disc?  Then more recently they've been saying that there would be 80 songs?  Maybe the discrepincy comes from the fact that there will be 80 new Rock Band 2 tracks on disc but that they'll also have all of the songs from Rock Band 1 on disc too.  Just a thought.

In either case, I think that's the only way HMX would release Rock Band 1 songs on Rock Band 2.  Otherwise, if they gave Rock Band 1 DLC for free to Rock Band 2 owners, people could just rent Rock Band 1, get the songs as DLC for free, and use them with Rock Band 2.  I'm sure that's a problem HMX wants to avoid.  So, having Rock Band 1 songs on disc with Rock Band 2 seems like the only possible way they'd do it.

Or make a special edition disc (for like $10 more) that has a bonus disc or a code to get the RB1 DLC

OR

Register your copy of rock band 1 on the site and you can get the songs with a marketplace (or PSN equivalent) code!

I'd even settle for having to mail them my RB1 disc in return for another that has all the songs as DLC (even if it's only a "verification" disc that will only work for a specific console/PSN ID)

Yet another article on the RB1 tracks as a download:
http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/07/08/rock-band-2-will-have-free-access-to-all-rock-band-tracks/

Except it is quoting the same IGN transcipt where the guy back pedaled and said he would "like it" if you could get the RB1 tracks.

Yeah they often all link back to the same flimsy source. I saw on the official forum one guy saying how a site had extra photos of the new guitar, and I was like, they just took the image from kotaku (who they credited for the image) who took it from ign (who kotaku credited the image), and then cut it up, that doesn't them new up close images of the guitar!
