Checked out a couple possibilities, but The Exorcist II is 1978, and the third one from 1990.  The Final Conflict or The Omen III is from 1981, but I don't see anyone in the cast from a previous MST film.

There wasn't a movie titled  The Priest vs. Satan  that I missed, was there?

The "sort of European" clue must factor in somehow, but Hammer was gone by the 1980s, right?

(For discussion - not a question)

I spent a bit of time going through Fangoria's archives, seeing what films that they were looking at in the 1980s, and I'm a bit stumped as well. "The Final Conflict" was one that leaped out at me, but I couldn't find any MST3k vets either.

One "Maybe" that I found was "The Seventh Sign."
It fits a lot of the categories. Satan is involved. The leads were well known before the film was made. There are priests, and they're from Europe. Demi Moore hasn't been in a Rifftrax, but she has been on MST3k. Two problems though- I can't find a second MST3k vet in the cast list. And while it's possible that Michael Biehn is considered the lead character, I think that most people would consider Demi Moore the lead and, last time I checked, she's female.

(A similar movie, The First Power, according to IMDB came out in 1990, disqualifying it, unless you consider that it was filmed in the 80s, and thus made, but not released in the 80s.)

A few other outside possibilities that have problems but maybe someone else can see something that I missed.:
Re-Animator (I can't find a priest as a character, and the Satan thing is iffy, but there are MSt3k vets in the cast.  It doesn't feel right though.)

The Dead Zone (Once again, iffy on the Satan thing.)

The Devil and Max Devlin (Europe is iffy and horror is a bit of a stretch.)

Ghostbusters (No Satan, unless you say Gozer is Satanic.)

Poltergeist (Famous director on this)

Nightmare on Elm Street (I'd call this a slasher film, but John "Mitchell" Saxon being in it makes me pause and not completely disqualify it.)

Gremlins (Director again)

Hellraiser (Director, plus might be a bit too graphic for the guys.)

Pet Semetary (I can't find a Europe link to the film. Unless it's that King spelled Cemetary in the European manner.)

Child's Play (Slasher film)

Evil Dead (Heh. Probably not.)

I dunno. I'm just getting the feeling that the actual answer will be completely off the wall, like "Heathers"  or a film with a dog named "Satan" or something similar.

I was reading imdb credits for Ian Holm and Christopher Lee and put up for consideration The Last Unicorn from 1982, a US/West German co-production.   I know it's only animated and I doubt it has much to do with horror, priests or Satan but other than Lee, Keenan Wynn also voices a character and a couple other names seem familiar from MSTed films.  Just saw an article about a new wide-screen DVD due out for this movie.
Howling II is eliminated as a sequel.
Didn't see anything likely in Ian Holm's credits.

Is it Waxwork? It seems to meet all the criteria, but IMDb doesn't list any priest in the credits. But it has two actors featured on MST3K - Miles O'Keefe and David Warner - and John Rhys-Davies of Fellowship.

19. yes

starring Zach Galligan, David Warner (Quest of the Delta Knights), Miles O'Keeffe (Cave Dwellers), and John Rhys-Davies (LOTR)

a great horror/comedy from 1988. I absolutley loved this movie as a kid. It was just one of those out of nowhere movies that you never hear of and then see it on TV late one night. I may have actually first saw it on Svengoolie and later rented, I don't remember.

I didn't remember specifically if it had any priests in it, but it had segments featuring Dracula, a werewolf, Frankenstein, a mummy and more. I assume there's a priest in there somewhere

I really liked the story line and it was really scary too. I haven't seen it in years, but I'll it as soon as I see it somewhere

19. No.

A warning: I considered whether to keep up the higher difficulty level we seem to have developed of late, or to just do, say, Predator or something like that. I went with a somewhat more obscure movie. I figure it's more fun that way.
