Dimmu Borgir's new album, Abrahadabra. Despite the stupid title (I don't care if it's a word coined by Aleister Crowley, it still sounds like a drunk magician), the album's pretty good. Pleasantly surprised to hear they went back to a real orchestra and choir backing them, and even more surprised to hear said orchestra and choir being utilized more prominently in each song's composition and mix. The only setback is the lack of Mustis, who left the band before this album was recorded. The orchestral writing on this album is good, but much more simplistic (you can tell immediately that a keyboardist wrote it all, as opposed to Mustis' orchestral writing which was much more bombastic, complex, and actually sounded like a film score at times.) But overall, it's a decent symphonic metal album.
