Which Version was Riffed?

Was it the Theatrical Version or the "controversial" alternate version?

Will the Blu-Ray Disc Work?

I used the blu-ray and it synced fine, it's the theatrical version they riffed.

The other ending would be better riff material, although both endings were pretty bad.

They should have stuck closer to the ending for The Omega Man, but then they would have had to give the zombies more intelligence from the beginning.

Good point. I added a note to the product's detail page at www.rifftrax.com/rifftrax/i-am-legend

What was controversial about the Hollywood ending they chickened out of for... uh, the OTHER Hollywood ending? In one, everybody lives happily ever after, including the zompires. In the other, Will dies but humanity gets rid of the evil monsters and lives in Vermont happily ever after. Both are cop-outs and totally miss the point of the story. The ENTIRE point of the story.

Here is the Book ending and its a major controversy and a Huge

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I think the other "controversial" point with the alternate ending is the idea that the Zombie/Vampire's had kept some human emotions and/or were developing them

plus the whole emotion thing comes outta nowhere
More of a selling point, like with the Wicker man "Unrated" Alternate thing

Well, I think they were setting it up with that one zombie running into the sunlight and screaming at him.  Neville assumed it was devolution and he was just a stupid zombie ignoring his survival instincts but in the alternate ending we realize it was an an emotional response to his mate being captured.
