This is terrible news!

If you watched thursday night's show, John explains that there will be no show until the writers come back!

There wasn't a mention of the writer's strike on the Colbert Report, but perhaps because that show is "kayfabe" he would have a different excuse.  John Stewart did advertise www.thedailyshow.com though, which has every single sequence from the John Stewart era of The Daily Show available for free.

:o  Crap.  I had no idea they'd be affected like this, I usually can't watch the Daily Show or Colbert until the weekend when my DVR gets filled up.  Here's hoping this strike gets resolved quick.

And this is the kind of content that the writers want to get more money for.

Is this just the writers of the Daily Show or is it some general strike?  I don't know what specifically the writers of the Daily Show would be striking about since their job seems pretty easy not coming up with much original material in the past 5 years

This is a huge writers strike that's affecting all of Hollywood.

It's the whole Writer's Guild, but your reality shows are safe, thank God.

is Rifftrax going to be affected by this?  I'm sure Mike is probably a part of the writers union.

I've heard one of the stipulations of the strike allows writers to create material for their own use.  Mike would be free to write for his own project.  Actually since Jon Stewart is a writer/performer on the Daily Show this would also allow HIM to write the show for himself, but likely he's not going to as a sign of support for the rest of the team.

No this is TV and Film script writing, not a generic writing strike.
