I feel like the proximity of the releases of Shazam and Captain Marvel is going to lead to a lot of confusion amongst comic book nerds.

.....no.  Amongst comic book nerds?  The nerds definitely know the difference.  I also think that there will be surprising acceptance with the general public.  I mean, I hear no one complaining about confusion between the live-action and animated Spider-Men or the TV and film version of the DC movies.  I think it's not going to be an issue at the box office, however things work out (my guess is "well".  Even the most lambasted DC movies do "well enough" at the very least at the box office).

This comes from a conversation me and Tyrant were having. We'd just seen Aquaman and during it, there was a trailer for Shazam and Captain Marvel. The conversation went like this:

"There were some pretty good trailers this time."
"It looks like they're doing a really good job with Captain Marvel."
"Yeah, we need to see that one."
"I read an article online that concluded she's more powerful than a Super Sayan."
"She!?"

Shazam I admit does look cool and it might be a good movie, but my trust in DC movies is all but gone. I'm not going to see Aquaman, but I definitely am going to follow the MCU as long as they keep batting a thousand... except for Iron Man 2, 3 and Thor The Dark World.

Haven't seen the preview/trailer, but when I read above that they were making a Shazam movie, my first thought was: "Oh, great. Super hero movies are really scrapping the bottom of the barrel when they're remaking Shaquille O'Neal movies".

* Me = not a comic nerd...and yes, I was thinking of Kazaam, not Shazam.

I liked Aquaman. It didn't feel like a DCEU movie at all.

See here's the thing though, it's still part of the same world as the one in MOS, BVS and Justice League, it's a world that I cannot bring myself to give a damn about.

Nice try! I'm not being tricked into seeing a DC movie again.

My cat is a freak. She LOVES when I brush her teeth. She is so into it.

Another random thought about my cat: she climbs on me all the time, especially after getting divorced, to the point where half the time I’m not even conscious of it. A lot of times I’ll be doing something on my computer, look down and realize there is a cat on me. How long has she been there?  Who knows?

I have considered the possibility that she can teleport. I have yet to rule it out.

Yeah, I didn't know Captain Marvel was a girl. Is that new?

As I understand the comic book lore, it's still Carol Danvers, the previous Ms. Marvel. I don't know exactly when it happened, but there wasn't really anyone in the Marvel canon using it, since I'm pretty sure they stopped running Mar-Vel books ages ago, but I love the fact that they made that change.
