Prometheus. It's not as bad as everyone says it is but it could be better. Really, I'm just confused more than anything.

Bernie

Another movie I'd never heard of, a friend loaned it to me, declaring its awesomeness.

Enjoyed it, and it's directed by by Richard Linklater, director of Dazed and Confused, one of my fave movies ever.  All the actors were good, even Jack Black, who usually annoys me, he showed some good acting chops in this movie.

My only disappointment?   Linklater didn't have Mcconaughey go "all right, all right, all right"

That's My Boy

Yes, its bad, but its better than Battleship.

House - The 1977 Japanese movie, not the 1986 American movie (unrelated). Ugh. This was clearly an attempt to do a live action cartoon, and it failed worse than The Villain, that pathetic 1979 movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Most of the time I had dificulty figuring out what the hell was going on. It's the most barebones "horror" movie that is just there to go from one setpiece kill to another. If it weren't Japanese and bizzarly stylish, people would treat it like the Z grade lazy effects movie it is. The only real standout scene (and one of the few times I kind of knew what was going on) was the girl getting eaten my be piano. But even that was only a level or two above "Trumpy can do magic things" of effects. I was really hoping I would like this movie, given I have seen high praise for it other places. But because I am not a pothead, I was not (what I have to assume is the ONLY way to enjoy this nonsense) baked off my ass to be able to enjoy this bullshit.

Just watched The Black Swan last night.

I hadn't been expecting it, but there was something about this otherwise-average movie that I really liked:

Bruce Almighty

Cheap Blu-Ray pick up that I didn't have on DVD.  Not as funny as I remember, but Jennifer Aniston is so cute it in, and Catherine Bell is pretty easy on the eyes.

Nah, that movie was a clusterfuck. My wife and I both feel vaguely nauseated after watching it; I'm not reading anything else about it.

Oh, you didn't like it.   If I watch a movie and my response is "What the fuck?" I enjoyed it even if it was/or because it was crazy (I think the last movie I saw like that was "Hobo with a Shotgun" "The Master")

Yeah, I didn't know what I thought of it at first. Mostly confused and disoriented. Then I realized it basically made me feel like shit, and was more or less incomprehensible as a movie.  Ergo, it failed as a movie.

I'm sorry you didn't like it.

Still, sorry you didn't like it. That movie takes a run or two to decipher, but it's quite a trip.

Have you seen Timecrimes? That's another great time travel film that's much easier to get down.

Was it based on the tv show?  I thought they already tried that once.

Secondly, if a movie can't really be understood on the first viewing, it fails as a movie.

Disagree.

Yeah, it really depends on what the movie is trying to do, and how well thought out it is.

Yeah, I disagree as well. Same with liking a movie. It took me a couple of views to understand and enjoy Blade Runner, for example, but I like it a lot now and I see why the movie is so excellent.
