In Search of the Miraculous: Fragments of an Unknown Teaching.

by P. D. Ouspensky recollects the teachings of an individual to whom he refers only as "G.", known to be G. I. Gurdjieff, and the author's relationship with "G.", leading to his break with him. He meets "G." in St. Petersburg before the Russian Revolution of 1917 and follows him through the Caucasus mountains to Constantinople (present day Istanbul), and then to western Europe.

That's just a facinating read. I thought for sure it would end up boring but it really makes you want to go out there and support your local theatre. :^)

Yeah, a great book.  Reminded me a little of Bill Bryson's books.

I've been dying to read that book- but why would one assume it was boring (and then read it if they were afraid of that?) Anyway, I'm reading "A Secret Rage" by Charlaine Harris, a re-print of one of her early novels. A Southern US based mystery as usual, it's fine so far. I'm also reading my first James Patterson, "1st To Die". I just finished

As for the title of the thread...I'm currently in the middle of several:

You see, in the midst of my research I'm also enjoying reliving childhood.

I quite enjoyed this. Although my wife thought I was nuts for doing so.

No I'm a financial analyst but I did study Greek and Latin at School and am still interested in Classical Literature/History.

currently I have a lead I'm following involving Odysseus.

No, don't do it! He'll lead you aimlessly around the Agean for 20 years! And you may be eaten.

Wow! Wanna send some cash my way and I'll talk to you about classics in exchange? :)

I think GM might be a tad peeved at me if I did  :D

Back on topic, I just picked this one up from the library as well.  It looks a little bit too pop-culture, but it may be useful (and some of you may have read it?):

I don't think I've read that one per se but I've read other like it. It'll be a history channel documentary in printed form. Fun and slightly engaging without any real substance. Still nothing wrong with a little light reading from time to time.

Just finished The Jeeves and Wooster Omnibus: Part One.  It's my first foray into Wodehouse, and I can definitely say it won't be my last.  I thought they were wonderful.  Funny, Jolly (the perfect word, I think), and easy to read.  I may have to watch the series now.
