2007 World Series of Poker
« on: August 22, 2007, 08:42:19 AM »
Keep an eye on the new episodes of the World Series of Poker. If you're following along at all, you'll definitely see me on TV a couple times, I was covering the event for my company and was following one player rather closely who went deep: Hevad "Rain" Khan.

I missed last night's episodes but I've got multiple people ready to get screenshots if I pop up on screen.

Jennifer Tilly and Isabelle Mercier both played, though I don't remember either going deep.

I know there's one woman who will probably receive a lot of *extremely* undeserved attention: This woman named Dee Dozier (i think i have the spelling right) was some actress/model who had very little idea what she was doing and was sat at Jennifer Harman's table, who's probably the best female player in the game. She ended up busting Jennifer.

Full Tilt Poker ended up putting a logo on the center of her chest on Day 2. Considering that Jennifer is a Full Tilt Pro, I want to know what she thinks of that move. :)

I love WSOP. I'll have to keep an eye out.

I love watching WSOP.   Have some of the prevous years on DVD.

Love playing poker, but there are no casinos in Texas () and the government decided that anyone who player poker online for money is the biggest threat to freedom the US has, so I only really get to play when I go to STL to visit the folks (they go three times a week and get compted everything) or I go to Vegas.

Last time I was in Vegas I entered one of the $500 buy in daily tournaments at the Bellagio.   I had never played in a tournament before and I really wanted to but I really did not want to plunk down $500 as I knew I would not be cashing, then someone told me that if you entered a $100 satelite tourament and you were one of the last two left (ten players per table), they would put down the $500 for you.   Amazingly, I was one of the two left and got in the main one.

People who play cards to make money are a weird lot.   Lots of characters to say the least.   After about 5 hours, I made the final two tables, but the other players' skill took over and I went out at 18 and just out of the money.     It was a lot of entertainment for $100.

Sighting #1!!! This was from Day 1B, the episode with Joe Hachem and Scotty Nguyen. It's a crane shot right after David Williams gets knocked out.

BTW, Phil Helmuth showing up in his nascar suit and helmet (complete with his own custom logo) looked like a clown.

He must just not realize how many goofy situations he puts himself in.   I would love to read Phil Ivey's thoughts when he entered the room in that get up.

I was there for that. 99% of the crowd was wondering why he does this shit.

The answer: because 99% of the crowd now pays attention to him for that moment.
