Giant missed opportunity
« on: August 14, 2007, 11:33:20 AM »
I was surprised while watching 300 with the Rifftrax commentary that they didn't make any specific joke about the giant Goat Man playing the sitar.  I was waiting for that moment because I thought for SURE they'd have something funny to say about that.  When I saw the movie in the theater I hated it, and when I saw that part I almost got up and left because it just reached a point of ridiculousness that I couldn't handle.

Now see, I thought the  "goat-man playing the sitar" scene in the Godfather worked. I'm not quite sure why you'd think it was ridiculous in 300.

I'm certain they could have made a few references to this legendary SNL character:

Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

Didn't they make one of their "Now we're in Hell" jokes the moment it appeared?

Maybe they couldn't think of that old David Gates song, "The Guitar Man"...change it to "The Sitar Man".....

Or maybe they started going through these movies and saying "Obvious joke here....make sure we don't say anything about that." ever since the Legends discs.  Seems like it to me.

Here's one I thaught was a missed opportunity. The Spartans go to all that effort to stack the bodies two stories high, push them over as a suprise tactic, and yet only catch ONE guy in the wave of bodies who isn't even killed by it. Yeah, that was time well spent!
