What's this? A Futurama discussion without me? I've gone too long without a Bender avatar...

The first of four new Futurama movies,"Bender's Big Score", will be released on November 27th on DVD.
The other three will be released later on, and then all 4 movies will be cut up into 16 episodes to air on Comedy Central in 2008.

This info is from the Comic Con Futurama panel.

Speaking as someone who has an actual autographed picture of Bender (I got him to personalize it with a "Bite My Shiny Metal Ass!"), I know that I can't wait!  Hopefully these will do well enough to allow the show to continue on for many years to come!

That's awesome. Where'd it come from?

When did you meet Bender?

It was from a comic book store signing appearance.  John DiMaggio was signing.  I'll try to get a picture of the autographed photo posted if I get a chance.

Cool. John DiMaggio seems like a fun guy.

IIRC, that's from the first Simpsons/Futurama crossover Comic by Bongo comics.

I've never really enjoyed the Simpsons comics, but I was flipping through a recent Futurama issue and it seemed fun. I may have to seek them out to tide me over until Bender's Big Score.

Do it. Futurama Comics are way better at capturing the essence of Futurama than Simpsons comics are at capturing the Simpsons. So much so that there have been  moments where I thought comics I'd read years ago were actual episodes of the show. :^)

It just makes sense that Homer and Bender would get along famously.  They're both lazy, amoral, selfish, violent, beer-swilling fools with an occasional burp of conscience.   (Homer more often than Bender, though)

Gail Simone has actually written a number of Simpsons issues and Ty Templeton did a special Hank Scorpio issue.
