Coke has these ads where they first point out that there are 140 calories in a 12 ounce can of regular Coca-Cola.  Then they list all the activities you can do with the energy provided by these calories.

Because that's a problem facing Americans--we don't get enough calories.

Chili mac is made by making your own chili recipe and serving it over macaroni.  It was a staple at our house growing up, as it could feed the family rather inexpensively, and we were pretty poor.  My mother was a fantastic cook, so she could throw something like that together and make us think we had a feast.

Really, it's recipes like my mother's that led to someone coming up with hamburger helper, which I've never had.  I prefer to cook from scratch, like my mom taught me.

Stuff like that is pretty easy to develop on your own too.  I sometimes like to make a big pot of beefaroni with maybe 2 pounds boiled elbow macaroni, 4 pounds ground beef, and about a quart of heated Ragu out of a jar.  Piece of cake, fairly cheap, feeds you for a few weeks.  One of my favorite dishes as a kid was beefaroni, cheetos, and mint chocolate chip ice cream (the green kind, none of this white crap Breyer's makes).

Must have been directed by some in who hasn't been more than a couple hundred miles from the east or west coast.  Big "clue in" for those that don't know:

Nobody actually says, "murca".

This is supposed to sell pancakes in fly-over states?  Good luck with that.  People in the center of the country are intelligent enough to know when they are being portrayed (again) as backward hicks, and they don't much like it.

I live on the East Coast, in a pretty liberal state (Delaware), and I hate it.

I saw a commercial for Dunkin Donuts this morning.  They're advertising a new iced drink that they call "cool hot chocolate", billed as "hot chocolate, but icy", basically.

Hot chocolate is called that because it's hot.  You can't make it cold and still call it hot chocolate.  That's just a chocolate drink.  I don't make a pitcher of hot iced tea... I just make tea.

I am not sure the giant "how ugly can we make pan cakes" is something that people really like.  I mean, once you go past simple pan cakes, real butter and real maple syrup.............ugh.  You lose all their taste and all you get is frosting taste.  Even as a little kid I never liked that.

I completely agree.  That commercial makes me want to burn down the Sonic in Hainesport.  I hate that place, but then I don't really like fast food.

There's a radio ad for Progressive called "Flo Sings the Hits" or something, where she's singing her song "Discounts From Progressive Are Good".  Except it's not a song.  There's no rhythm.  There's no rhyme.  She just kind of... says words in an off kilter, breathy voice while backed by shitty music.
