The wife had to put her 19 20 year old cat down today. She stopped eating earlier this week and was quickly wasting away. She was a good cat and I'm surprisingly pretty overwhelmed with sadness about two hours after the fact. I didn't think she was going to last long so I took a few pictures of her the past few days so we'd have something nice to remember her by.

RIP, Kiki.

Poor kitty, looks just like my cat the week he died, pretty much the same way.

I'm so sorry for your loss

Your wife's status update made me literally cry. Rest in peace, sweet kitty.

Did your wife have her all of her life?

Yep, when she was 9 she picked Kiki out of the litter. Apparently she was the orange little cat out of a litter of black kittens. She looked like Puff from the Dick & Jane stories. Her deceased father got the cat for her after many years of persisting for a pet.

I'm sorry for your, and your wife's, loss.  Even knowing cat's lifespans when we get them, the end always seems to come too soon.

Yeah looks nice is probably secretly controlling a nightmarish world of survival horror though.

I'm so sorry.  It seems a lot of pets are moving on this Spring.  :(

Yeah sorry Henry, it's always hard to lose a pet, no matter the circumstances of their passing.

Cat # 3 from the crazy cat lady

This is Lucy, she found me in 2005.  I was outside when I heard her meowing.  She was under my neighbor's storage shed and she was so loud I thought there was a litter, but it was just her.  She was so little, and scared to death.  Over a two week period I fed her and moved the dishes closer to my house until she pretty much staying on my porch.  It took over two weeks before she would let me pet her.

I hate to think about what she went through.  She scared of all humans, but me, and cats too.  She did get along with my cats, the late Bella and Mr. Kitty, and she tolerates Juno and Archie.
