I actually rather like the way the "Rivernator" character behaves - she's relatively sociable compared with other Terminators, and she's capable of making simple small talk about fairly unpredictable things the way humans can, but more complex personal issues are just a BIT beyond her programming. I remember reading a book (though I can't remember for the life of me what it was called or who wrote it) that detailed the differences between the way computers "think" and process information to the way humans do it. Ultimately, it came to the conclusion that Strong AI would take a lot more than processor speed to develop - I'm pretty sure the author believed it to be impossible.
I mean, after all, she's a ROBOT, and should be written as one.
