Robert Forster is dead. He died yesterday as a result of brain cancer. He was a fantastic actor who starred in a number of great movies and TV shows and gussied up some bad ones too. I can't remember where I first saw him but my favourite role of his is probably Jackie Brown, where he and Pam Grier fall in love over the song "Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time" (which is now one of my favourite songs).
(No, that's not the song that plays in this scene, but Natural High is a great song too)

He's also really good in the partial documentary drama Medium Cool as a detached reporter. An unusual movie that mixes fiction and documentary footage for an interesting effect.

Robert Forster never struck me as a flashy actor but it was always deeply human to me and though he played some villains, I find him most effective as a good, vulnerable man.

An interesting coincidence is that he died the same day his role in El Camino: A Breaking Bad Story came out.

I'm not particularly religious, and I don't really like Muppets, but I do love word play.
