Things I learned from "Not Thunderbirds"
« on: December 27, 2019, 03:33:20 PM »
12:25 Rollergator no!!! On the plus side you did make it to leader of the Supermonsters.
This remake of Roger Rabbit is weird.
Thunderbirds are.... what copyright?
I don't think even Carl Mackek could have mixed two different unconnected stories like this. These are unconnected right? (Opens IMDB) Holy crap it's not unconnected.
I learned that I want to see a radicalized school of goldfish in a movie.
Where was Ken and Ken to work with Jim and Gem?
What did that pterodactyl have against Nakatomi tower?
I learned that ending was a bit of a surprise. Well from the idea side but not the execution. It's this movies version of the live Star Blazers ending.
Fodder's just this guy, you know.

I learned (from IMDB) that this movie is actually the first four episodes of a TV show strung together. I couldn't find the name of the show though.

I learned that bats are either the size of buildings, or the size of, well, bats. Depending on which set they're filming on.

Thanks :) Apparently this show was actually very popular in Saudi Arabia of all places.

I learned that Wally was voiced by voice acting legend Cam Clarke. It was one of his first voice acting roles. He got better.

I'm pretty sure back in my anime con days, they did this in a 'Mystery Anime Theater' at Otakon in '01 or '02. I think it was the last one before the people running it decided it was too much a logistics nightmare with all the other things they had to do and gave up. Sad, really, as it was one of the 2 main events on Fridays that drew thousands. I still remember one of the lines.

Servo II: What words of wisdom can Tyrannos give his recently defeated monsters to rally their spirits?
Tyrannos: Stop sucking!

Also, one of the founders of the con did a great Forester impression. To the point where he actually sounded a bit like him even when he wasn't imitating him.

I learned that Clifford was pure evil.
I learned that you should never mix Kaiju and Anime... EVER.
I learned that the closet sibling relations are shared bionically.

I learned that dinosaurs and pterosaurs explode when they die.
I learned Hanna-Barbera's 1970s output is, compared to this, lavish and well-produced.
I also learned that references to the Ding-a-Lings make me giggle uncontrollably.

Seems like he also voices some of the other minor characters.

Well, we learned from Birdemic birds can explode when they kamikaze. And dinosaurs are related to birds, so it does make sense.

I learned that the team could go the entire movie without making one incest joke about the siblings fusing together (unless I missed one).

I learned that a country responsible for Studio Ghibli can also run anime artwork through a dirty copier and get this movie.

I learned this was just as terrible as the first time I watched it, with people making fun of it as it was being shown, as well.
I learned Ocatman would have fit right in with this bunch of badly suited monsters.
I learned my Robotech days has me identify voice actors in other works as coming from it. Damn I'm old.
I learned live action and anime mix about as well as live action anime. (There are one or two exceptions)
I learned 5 seconds of this had more effort put into it than Feeders. I'll give them that.
I learned there were less Power Rangers riffs than I thought.
I learned the guys held off on the Clifford joke longer than I thought.
I learned I loved the call back to Rats. Mostly because I also love Rats, meaning the movie.
I learned this had a constant stream of very good riffs while a constant stream of crap goes on. This was a great one that hit all the marks for me.
I learned like the guys, I too was pulling for our tyrannical Tyrannasaurus.
