Flying in the face of Die Hard Law, Stranger Things is NOT a sequel to a show called Strange Things. It is, however, a sequel to just about everything else that came out in the 80s. And this is the episode where it all started, “it” meaning America’s vague awareness that there was a kid out there named “Finn Wolfhard.”

Stranger Things gave us many exciting cultural touchstones such as The Upside Down, spelling words with Christmas lights, and a newfound appreciation for Eggo waffles. None of them will be appearing in this episode. But there is plenty of that guy from the commercial for those things you’re not supposed to eat! (Burger King’s Chicken Fries)

This was a lot of fun.

This was one of their best. There was hardly a line that I didn't laugh at. I put this riff alongside the Wizard as videos I enjoy both riffed and unriffed.

It is a fantastic riff. My only regret is they started with Episode 1, since that's really all just table-setting. Maybe they'll throw in the next episode with the next Kickstarter...

Oh, I'm not falling for this trick again.

Because of Rifftrax, I own and watched all 4 seasons of Heroes (should've stopped after the first season), the first 6 seasons of Grey's Anatomy (should've never watched any of it), and the first 6 seasons of Game of Thrones (before it got too stupid to continue watching, but in retrospect should have never watched any of it. Ugly, soul-destroying violence-porn.)

Manage to avoid watching the pilot for Lost, helped by the fact that even fans thought it was a waste of their time after whatever happened in the ending.

Stranger Things is better than all of those (the third season was just ok, but the first two were really good). As you said, the first season of Heroes was the only decent one. Game of Thrones and Lost were interesting, but had disappointing endings. Six seasons of Grey's Anatomy? What is wrong with you?
