Thanks for the game recomendations.

For us, this will see almost all of it's time as a mobile system and very little if any time hooked up to a TV (which sounds like it has it's pluses and minuses for a game like Doom- graphics supposedly a lot more impressive on the mobile screen than on a TV but text in mobile mode supposed to be too small).

I forgot to warn you about Use Your Words: It's 3-6 players and there's no single-player mode. Also, everyone plays with their Smartphones (or really any device that has an HTML5 browser).

I saw UYW is rated M. Exactly how mature is it? Just wondering because I'd like to check it out but most likely would have to play with my kids.

It's rated M because some of the house answers (i.e. the answers that the game provides to try to fool you into choosing them so you lose points in the game) are on the naughty side. But it's okay to play with kids seeing as
  • the house answers can be turned off, and
  • there's a "family mode" filter for playing with children that removes all the stuff you wouldn't let around your kids
So really, it's no big deal.

Sounds like fun. Going to pick it up for PC when my family comes out in December.

Cool! Thanks! We've played a bit of "That's You!" and it was pretty fun.  This kind of seems like it's along the same lines.

I'm going to give a shoutout today to Kharon's Crypt. It's a game that was financed on Kickstarter. The game plays like the game boy Legend of Zelda games with the enemy possession gameplay mechanics of Super Mario Odyssey. It successfully raised enough money on Kickstarter with the exception of the Nintendo Switch Stretch goal (which is €17,500), so they put the money they raised on Kickstarter into IndieGoGo to raise that one last stretch goal with the Deadline being December 31, 2017. The links are below.

Their IndieGoGo Page

Their webpage, where you can pay via paypal

There's even a free demo so you know it's legit. Give it a try! I want to see this game arrive on Nintendo Switch!

Assuming my contact gets renewed (it should do) I think I'm going to buy a Switch in the next week or so, finally. I usually pick up the newest Nintendo much sooner into its life, but I've been on a contract bubble constantly since it came out due to a massive restructure at my work. Anyway, I've finally decided to say fuck it and just buy one assume I stay employed.

Very torn between Zelda and Mario right now. Love both franchises. Think Zelda will be the better game. But think Mario is probably better in terms of playing around my 5 year old...
FINE

There are so many good games on the Nintendo Switch right now it's not even funny. And I'm not even counting Nintendo's stellar first-party titles. I mean games such as Hollow Knight (which was also on PC, but I got further in the Switch version for some reason), West of Loathing (which is a Switch exclusive as far as consoles go, the only other platforms to find that game are Windows, macOS, and Linux), Octopath Traveler (hopefully the full game is as good as the demo), and Bethesda's ports of Skyrim, Doom, and Wolfenstein II. I know all but one of those games aren't exclusives, but the Switch's hybrid nature makes exclusives out of them in my view.

Yeah, I've been going through some reviews as I haven't paid too much attention in the last year. Hollow Knight does look particularly great. Haven't heard of West of Loathing, so I'll look into it - thanks!

Never was a Doom or Wolfenstein guy, but Skyrim is pretty tempting - but certainly not at the same time I'm playing Zelda.

Both Zelda and Mario are the best entries in their series in a long time. The tyke will probably enjoy watching Mario more, which means you'll get to play more. (First console game I've beat in a while because my 5-year-old insisted I play it so much.)

My kid would like me to be playing the Wii or Wii U more than just about anything else :P

So Smash comes out in December. What do you guys think, is there a chance of a switch sale around then?  Or will prices stay where they are because demand will be high?  Also, will Switches be hard to come by again come Christmas?

Zelda was out of stock and I would have had to wait an extra week, so I went with Mario Odyssey - Kind of glad to have my choice made for me.

Nintendo has a habit of setting the price of their console systems as low as it's ever going to be. (Wii Us are still $250 at retail.) Someone might decide to lay down some Black-Friday magic on it, but that's probably your only hope of getting a discount.
