R.I.P. Leonard Cohen

Leonard Cohen has passed away.  This isn't too surprising considering that in a recent interview he even admitted that he was ready.  Possibly one of the greatest voices in Canadian music and an accomplished lyricist and poet.  He had a voice so deep and evocative and sang songs filled with beauty, sadness and sometimes something a little more foreboding and ominous. 

I have memories of my father playing his albums (particularly The Future) as he cooked us stir fry.  A true Canadian treasure and another significant loss in a year so very full of them.

Not unexpected, but the timing of this loss can't help but feel like extra salt in the wound.  :'(

SNL is pretty much dead to me for cozying up with Trumpy, but I did find this rather affecting:

And of course, "Everybody Knows" feels like a painfully on-the-nose theme song for the past week:
