Shoot. I missed out too.

They might do what they did with the fan Star Trek films. Take out the video, release the MP3 and let everyone seek out their own source copy. If they do that, though, I assume a credit is due to those who purchased it already, since they paid for a full VoD.
I assume they would only do that if they took the VOD out of our libraries and replaced it with an MP3.  For now, we still have access to the VOD download and stream, so I'm not anticipating a refund or credit.

Poop! Feel for those who didn't snag a copy. We got it on the first day and loved it. Solid 9 or 10 for us. Hope it gets back up there soon  :'(

Has a DVD of this one been released? All I found was an overpriced VHS tape. Not sure how well a MP3 release would sell if the only available release of the film in on VHS  :(

Edit-
Actually, I'm certain it would't sell

Working off pure speculation here, but I'm guessing it's a rights issue with the two James Horner compositions self-plagiarisms. Again, just a guess.
Fixed

That's spendy. Let us know how the quality of the DVD is. My guess is its a first generation VHS transfer upconverted to DVD.

Is it self plagiarism? Or did the company buy and lose access to some of his music? He may have had no involvement at all.
FINE

So, I'll be honest.  I had a friend make me a copy who snagged it before it got taken down.  How likely is it that it comes back?  I want to pay for it, but I don't want to donate the $10 on the "make things right" page just to have it come back.  Because I'd rather pay the $10 and have it in my library in case something happens to my hard drive.

I doubt anyone here can give you an answer. If it were me, I'd wait and buy it if it becomes available. Like you say, having it in your library for future use is part of what you pay the $10 for.

What if you buy yourself a $10 gift card, and only use it if the movie becomes available again? (Or if it's about to expire, I don't know if they expire or not?)

But I was lucky enough to grab it before it went down, so luckily I don't have to feel bad about it.

Gift cards to myself are the only way that I buy stuff from Rifftrax. I buy a large gift card (say, $100) and use it until it runs out. It's easier, and I figure it saves the Rifftrax guys some money in fees, too. Of course, you have to have some money on hand at the time to make it work, which isn't always the case...

Very true, they're really stretching the term "speciality item."

My guess is its a first generation VHS transfer upconverted to DVD.

Probably. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't even have chapters. I just need it for the source audio.
