Music at 19 minutes, not the Exorcist?
« on: October 21, 2015, 11:21:02 AM »
Call me a nerd, but the music that plays over the fabulous wooden-paneled station wagon as it cruises into the cemetery is more like Goblin than the music from the Exorcist.  I just rewatched Susperia and it definitely sounds like a Goblin rip off.  Then again, maybe the Exorcist music was a Goblin rip off itself!
Have a little taste of the awesome soundtrack that is Suspiria .  Also if the coding for the link shows up, I stopped at learning at basic html in 2000 and I don't even know if that works anymore.

Yes it works. And that reminds me, I really need to watch Suspiria.

It had the underpinnings of "Halloween" to me.

The exorcist music is Tubular Bells from Mike Oldfield. It came out in 1973 (see here). What year was Goblin made?

What year was Goblin made?

Goblin formed in 1972.

Tubular Bells was being written and recorded in 1972, so it's definitely within the realm of possibility that Oldfield was directly influenced by the Goblin soundtrack. No way to prove or disprove it, though.
