Yeah, seems everybody has their own distinct "Festival of Lights."

Yeah winter festivals are the best. I was thinking, maybe I should start a winter festival song thread in music,so people can post their favorite songs to scare away the end of year blues be they religious (whatever it may be) or secular (since there are a bunch of those that are good too).

I always used to get irked when I'd see people at my mother's church with stickers saying "Christ is the reason for the season" no he's the origin of the name Christians give it. the reason is it's bloody cold and drab out there so let's have a party!

Speaking of the Holiday Season:
At Walmart, I saw a thing for the "Children's Miracle Network" charity group, and they were advertising "Holiday Pins" for 1 dollar, with said dollar going straight to charity, supposedly. Anyway, these "Holiday Pins" were Angels, Crosses, and Trees. In other words, "Christmas Pins." Sinse "Holiday" is now meant to mean "Non- Religion- Specific- Seasonal- Greeting", and Merry Christmas is Christian specific,  I have to ask WHY CAN'T ANYONE GET THIS CRAP STRAIGHT?!! It's not that difficult.

Course', I'm being anal about something that has become almost overwhelmingly stupid, so.... yeah.

Well it's like when i worked for World Market and they had a CD with advertising bits between the tunes.

In October the new CD came and on it was a bit about "Holiday Turkeys". ::) Well in the US while many do eat Turkey at Christmas, it's primarily associated with Thanksgiving which is a secular bloody Holiday.

I like the phrase Happy Holidays because there are many holidays around the end of the year but if one is speaking about an element specifically associated with a specific holiday it's OK to name the holiday.

I hate the Holiday tapes in stores.

The tape we have in the grocery store has something that's killing me: Every few songs, a woman says.... something. I have no idea what it is, and it's impossible to sort it out from the rest of the store's noise.

.... lips of an annnnngggeeeeellll... mumblemumblemumble... The smell of your skin lingers on me now....
