Launchpad was fun, but I'd rather see a spinoff Roboduck series.

D'oh! Yeah, I don't know why I keep getting the name mixed up.

D'oh! Yeah, I don't know why I keep getting the name mixed up.

He was originally going to be called Roboduck.  If you look at his chest symbol, it's an R they flipped around when they changed the name.

I think there was an episode of Duck Tales where Scrooge goes all vigilante and dresses up as a superhero to fight crime or something? Was that the inspiration for Darkwing Duck?

Yes there was and yes you are right, that was one of the inspirations.  The other was a Lunchpad focused episode called "Double-O-Duck" which is both the inspiration for bringing Launchpad aboard and for introducing SHUSH. FOWL and all the spy stuff (the show was initially envisioned as a spy pastiche but creator Tad Stones had trouble injecting heart into the project until it became more superhero focused).

I would LOVE a new Darkwing series!

I never read it, but I heard REALLY good things about Ian Brill's Darkwing comic that sadly had the plug pulled on it after Disney's purchase of Marvel.
Heard they were going to start it up again sometime.

I hope that's true and I hope it continues what Boom studios started.

EDIT: Doing some research, it seems that Ian Brill won't be returning but it sounds like much of the series was actually planned and ghost-written by editor Aaron Sparrow.  That's a bit of a disappointment since Brill seemed perfectly charming in his appearances on Battleship Pretension, but it sounds like Sparrow will be getting some long overdue creative credit.

Man if they made a Roboduck vs Gizmoduck movie, I'd totally be all over that.

    • Yep, I have a deviantART gallery. But it's pretty cheerful drawings-- no angsty poems or black-and-white photos of wooden chairs.

NOOO--- CHILDHOOD. . . actually left quite unaffected. An animated series might actually be alright. I mean, hell, Ninja Turtles is on its THIRD animated series, and in my opinion it's the best version of Ninja Turtles they've made so far.

They're keeping it a cartoon, that helps. And a series, which I think suits something like Ducktales better. If they were gonna make another one of those god-awful live action / cgi film adaptations [with just enough gratuitous mild profanity and suggestive scenes to get it a PG rating], then I'd probably be groaning right now.
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

Interesting. Has a little bit of a Carl Barks look to it.

New DuckTales series? Cool.
Kate Micucci?  One of my celebrity crushes, wonderful.
David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck?  You don't have to go on any longer.  SOLD.

I don't know, it's pretty hard to beat the original voice of Scrooge.
