The Tick

The only downside is it's on Amazon which means you have to have their streaming service and then pay for the episodes. But since it's Warburton and Ben Edlund will be doing the writing, I'm sure that you'll see fans lining up for it.

SPOOOOOOOON!

Love "The Tick"... loved Ben Edlunds writing. Paul the Samurai, Man Eating Cow...

What? Are you kidding me? What's not to love.

Sadly, Speak probably won't be in this one.

Yeah there was this whole mess with the rights where, even though FOX was doing both the live and the animated Tick show, characters that were created specifically for the animated show (And there were a lot of them) couldn't be used in the live show, and vice-versa, and neither can be used in the comics.

I suppose I'll have to add their streaming service. (Or watch it over my parents place since they have it.)

It's up already! I just watched Episode 2. Digging it. Love its unique off-kilter spirit.

Is it more true to the comic and animated show than the 2001 series? As much as I loved Patrick Warburton in that, everything else was toned down so much I didn't really get into it.

It gets a bit darker and more violent than even the comics did, but I'd say it's way more true to the comics. This Tick is very clearly insane, as opposed to the more simple, childlike Tick we've usually had.

Binged the whole thing over the weekend. The gritty setting was off-putting at first, but The Tick's determination to be anything BUT Gritty won me over. At the end of the season, I was shocked that it wasn't just a good Tick story, it was a good superhero story.

I've got 2 more left to watch.  I really enjoy it.  Gonna be a long wait for the second half of the season

I'm enjoying it myself, but I am really shocked this thing wasn't rated TV-MA, but I guess if Gotham can show a hand getting blown off with a shotgun, I shouldn't be surprised by the swearing and blood flying.  Peter really is impressive as the character.  That, and Jackie Earl Haley can chew scenery like nobody's business.

It's a nice mix between the superheroics that the cartoon was able to pull off and the real-world feel the prior live-action show did but never had the budget to expand from.

I do miss Batmanuel, though.
One Man Band Riffs.  18 riffs, over 600 served, since 2009.
