Is that really Bruce J. Mitchell as the singer in the trailer?! I know he's a singer & guitar player on the side, so it probably is! Seeing my favourite underdog actor from MST3K again is a real joy.

I kind of doubt it, the guys are known for "naming" people in movies who happen to look similar to other actors and such. (See: The infamous Lisa Kudrow is in Time Chasers fiasco.)  A check of Mitchell's IMDB page only lists "Final Sacrifice" as something he's worked in or on.  Which is a shame, I actually kind of liked him in that movie. I agree with Crow from the episode. We needed a whole series centered around Rowsdower.

BTW, that was a GREAT call-back by the guys.

Also, it was South African not Canadian--though South African films to have a kind of Canadian feel to them. What was the S.A. film that was MSTed?  Alien from LA?

I was surprised they didn't make any Iowa jokes for the scenes that were supposed to be in Des Moines.

The most famous was Space Mutiny. Probably a few others too.

There you go. I always forget that and remember Space Mutiny as being Canadian!

Servo does make the crack in the movie about it only being good at chucking Canadians around and the smell of it being "rife with back-bacon."  So, obviously, the MST3K writers thought it was a Canadian movie too.

Hmmm...I seem to have liked the first one better when I watched them both years ago (link to thread). Wonder why they skipped it?

Well, there were some topless black sweat shop slaves. So so wrong, of course.

Well, the production would have gone to South Africa to save money, same reason so many go to Canada. Low budget movies tend to look a lot alike after a while.

It doesn't matter who we are. What matters is our plan.

Maybe everyone finds it so obvious that there's no need to comment on it, or maybe I just missed the reference, or maybe the joke just isn't worth it, but I can't find any reference to the antagonist's last name. Starkraven. It's an obvious reference to the phrase "stark, raving mad", no?

I don't recall a riff on that either.  In fact I don't even recall a riff on the main character of this movie having the same name as another fictional character from a popular series of books/films.  I would've expected at least a "Get off my plane!" or something!

I wonder what guys like that think of doing movies like this as compared to his small part in "The Usual Suspects"?

The checks must be nice.
