OK, other thoughts on the other songs.

The Man Who Sold the World cover is pretty great.  I'm not a big Cobain fan, but he does a damn fine job.  Still prefer the original though.

Didn't realize that TMBG song was a cover.  Very good one too.

Hallelujah is also good, but that's one of those songs I'm tired of hearing getting covered.  I remember when the original version showed up in  Watchmen, Cohen's reaction was "OK, can we have a moratorium on that song now?"

The Common People is a great cover.  Added that one very late in the game to my list since I forgot about it.

Never heard that Baby One More Time cover before, but it's pretty good.

Mad World is also on my list, but it was a bit lower than it would have been a few years ago from overuse.  Still, it's one of those great stripped down covers.

All Along the Watchtower was VERY high on my list.  A classic.  This one overcomes it's overuse, despite being used in every Vietnam establishing shot ever.

I'm dumb a 2nd time.  I listed my original's first when I posted my list.  Read yours the same way.   My bad.  I thought I remembered something off the Pretty Hate Machine coming from some other band.  I think that it was Down In It coming from Skinny Puppy's Dig It.  The Devo version is still pretty cool though.

* Glen Campbell covering Jimmy Webb's "Wichita Lineman"

Webb wrote it but Campbell was the original artist, Webb is a phenomenal writer but others sing his songs first (MacArthur Park is one of his as well). I do like his version of The High Way Man though, actually I like both that and the Campbell original, not sure which I like more, Webb is more rueful and melancholy.
