Great summaries on The White Album and Nevermind. I mean, they're alright, but not much more than that.

I frequently describe The White Album as "Some good songs individually; an album as a whole, it's a muddled  mess of crap."
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

OVERRATED: Anything NIRVANA

UNDERRATED: I don't know, it has always bugged me that it seems nobody knows any song besides "Only women bleed" off of Alice Coopers 'Welcome to my nightmare'.

P.S. I always thought that early KISS got a bum deal just because of their stage show. They had some great riffs.

It all depends on your taste.  I love GNR and Appetite is one of my favorite albums.

On that note in the underrated....I also love their punk album The Spaghetti Incident but you don't hear much about it.  Their covers of Hair of the Dog and Buick Makane kicked ass.  And the classic Since I Don't Have You as a rock song?  It worked!
I have always wondered if the title of that album had anything to do with Calvin and Hobbes, but I owned it before I had the internet.

The Beatles album HELP! People (especially in horror movies) are always screaming about it.

While I'm guessing it's more popular than I realize, I consider Genesis' A Trick of the Tail to be incredibly underrated.  Early Genesis never got much in the praise in the music press, mostly because music press hates progressive rock with a passion from what I understand, but it's also an album that seems to get a slap from people who loved Peter Gabriel and hated anything the band did after his departure.  While I love songs from them before and after that album, I think that one may be the only album I genuinely like as a whole.  The songs are catchier than their earlier work, still flowy and ethereal enough to avoid the pop label of their later work, and say what you will about Phil Collins, he was a long, long way from the "Two Hearts" era.  He handled vocal duties as well as he could and still drum like a madman.

As far as overrated...while I would love to say Nirvana (I admit I've never been a big fan, though was around a LOT of people who were), I have to admit Nevermind is probably a fairly solid album in terms of how much off of it got air time and the influence it had on people.  Even given his death making them icons in the American mind forever, they were influential enough that I give them props...on that album, at least.

However, I will call out a band I like...Daft Punk and Random Access Memories.  For an album that got almost universal acclaim, this was the most boring 70 minutes of the same thing repeating over and over that I have ever heard.  I was so utterly disappointed that this is probably the album that they will be most remembered for, since beyond Get Lucky I can't even remember another song off of the album.  While I'd be hard pressed to say that any of their albums would truly be their 'best' (Even Discovery has a handful of really embarrassing stinkers on it), this is one is the furthest from it.
One Man Band Riffs.  18 riffs, over 600 served, since 2009.

Underrated - Heathen - David Bowie

Granted, a bad David Bowie happens only once in a Never Let Me Down, but sadly later Bowie doesn't get discussed enough.  It's amazing how well this 2003 album holds up (as well as the album Bowie released last year).  In-Credible.

Yeah Heathen is pretty good, but I would say last years album was just ok, I stopped listening to it quite quickly.
