Help Mary Jo Pehl create a CD of original songs that pay homage to the films of Mystery Science Theater 3000!

Hello! My name is Mary Jo Pehl.

You may know me as the the leggy (-ish), blonde (kinda) co-star (sorta) of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Cinematic Titanic.

I am recording an album of original songs that pay homage to bad movies of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

After the phenomenal, chart-topping success of “When Loving Lovers Love” from the episode “Overdrawn At The Memory Bank”, tens and tens of people clamored for more.

And so, the Chanteuse of Cinema is back.

I will be singing four or five imagined theme songs to such MST3K favorites as Mitchell, Space Mutiny, Eegah, and of course, Manos, The Hands of Fate.

The songs will be written by veteran Twin Cities musicians Michael Warren, Claudia Hankin, and Tony Balluff, and performed by yours truly in a variety of genres such as power pop, ballad, pop-country, and perhaps a duet even a very special guest singer (wink!).

We will be making this CD available online, available as a download, and at any of my appearances. One or two may also be featured in a solo show that I have been developing over the past couple of years, a version of which debuted in Austin, TX in 2011.

Ok, no link to the kickstarter page yet but it's coming in the next couple of days. A friend of mine could use some help, if anyone feels inclined:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/OPrWq2hHqJQ" target="_blank" class="new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/OPrWq2hHqJQ</a>

EDIT: And here's the link.

Eef Barselay of Clem Snyde to cover The Sound of Music!  Already fully funded (and only a few thousand were necessary)

Sounds great so far!

A kickstarter for a video game about the 1979 Iran revolution.  This is potentially exploitative, but it actually sounds really fascinating and I think it could be an amazing game.  It's certainly a bold game to adapt a historical event for a game.  Of all the mediums, it could be the riskiest since the point of a game is generally to "have fun".  Still, there are some great games that challenge that notion, most notably the acclaimed "Spec Ops: The Line", which deconstructs war games.

Sounds interesting. I hope they at least touch on the movie a bit too.

There's 42 hours left in Paul and Storm's Kickstarter! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/paulandstorm/big-launch-for-paul-and-storms-new-album-ball-pit

They've already unlocked several things, including an anthology book that'll include a contribution from a certain Mr. Joel Hodgson, but if they reach $100,000, they'll do an animated holiday special directed by The Brothers Chaps of Homestar Runner fame!

This may be the most awesome film in the history of humanity. It's already fully funded too.

Apparently it's been over for a little while, but sadly the Stuart Gordon directed movie Nevermore, with Jeffrey Combs as Edgar Allen Poe, didn't get nearly close to it's funding.

Who likes power-pop??  I do! My friend Richie Parsons is a Boston punk luminary and he is kickstarting his first solo record.  It is going to be produced and mixed by Ken Stringfellow (Posies, REM). After 2 days he is 29% funded!! For $50 you get vinyl/digital/autograph/t-shirt!!
