Holy cow, Graves of the Fireflies made it. Cool beans! It is one one of the most painful/sad movies I've ever seen, but powerful... moving. Oh, but one correction, Kleenex also endorses the works of Vivid Films.

Though they didn't make my final cut, the Fly and Road Warrior are two of my favorites. Happy to see 'em here. Beetlejuice was fun.

and finally...

Kurosawa is God. Bow before him Darth Geek ;)

Interesting and varied list so far, more eclectic than I thought it would be. An early thanks for hosting this DG

phew was getting a bit worried the fly wouldnt make it fora  second there.  I wasn't doing too good but then fly and ran two in a row enjoying list.

the fly is my all time favorite movie just a heartbreaking beautiful disgusting tragic love story with fly vomiting in it.  I wrote a big paper on it back in my scholarly days and so i have watched it many times and it hasn't lost a bit of its impact for me.

Oops, I forgot to put up a clip from Withnail and I.  And a Trailer for that matter.  Thanks for picking up my slack, tripe.

None from my list today, though the Fly was VERY close to making it (it was in my top 35), so I'm glad to see it made it, despite the lack of Cronenberg on my list proper.

So is that Little Shop of Horrors alternate ending that the plants win, or is it just really long.  I could live in a world ruled by Levi Stubbs.  Until he eats me anyway.

Forgot about Road Warrior, but while it's good, I don't think it would have made my list.

Really need to see Ran and Grave of the Fireflies.

Man, I got completely shut out yesterday. I need a comeback! Wait, DON'T CALL IT A COMEBACK!!! Or do, your choice.

Beetlejuice, The Fly, and The Road Warrior made it pretty far before getting cut, but I had to hack them in the end.

TRON, MOTHAFUCKAS!!!

Some Kind of Wonderful is alright, but Pretty in Pink is better.

Really need to see Ran and Grave of the Fireflies.

Same. Hell, I still need to see all of Seven Samurai and Rashomon.

Love Little Shop of Horrors, had to cut it, quite painfully in fact, from my list

Realized last night I forgot to add The Naked Gun!  Shame....

You really do, everyone does. It's a funny film but there are touches of melancholy and sweetness that make it stand out. :)

Am I the only one who found Falkor's scales kind of gross.  Like he was covered in parasite eggs or something?

37. Planes, Trains and Automobiles

(44 points, 2 lists of 24, highest ranking: #4 Johnny Unusual, D.B. Barnes)
Release date: November 25 1987

Directed by: John Hughes

From IMDB: A man must struggle to travel home for Thanksgiving, with an obnoxious slob of a shower ring salesman his only companion.

My take:
Just watched this for the first time a few days ago, and it was very good.
John Candy plays the guy everyone has had to sit next to on a plane at one time or another. Except he's John Candy, so he's lovable.
Remember how you had that nightmare trip years ago and you said "one day we'll look back at this and laugh", even though you didn't really beleive it at the time? John Hughes filmed it.

What have we learned:
Shower ring companies have travelling salesmen.
Steve Martin used to be funny. Okay, we all knew that, but it's nice to have a reminder now and then.
A car entirely destroyed by fire will still run.
 Those aren't pillows.

Remake: Have it star Ryan Reynolds and Wayne Knight. Directed by Bobcat Golthwait.
