Car Talk
« on: August 30, 2012, 06:53:54 PM »
I guess we don't have a dedicated thread for talking about vehicles..
Buying, selling, fixing, modifying, etc.

Well I came across what I thought was a good deal till it arrived by tow truck..
Bought a 94 Camaro convertable tonight for $1000.00.
Was told it had a new paint job by the lady who's husband got deported recently and it is far from new; in fact it needs to be redone!
It runs ok (may need gas treatment or a tuneup), The title is screwed up but I can get that straightned out through a mechanic shop in 45 days or so..

Pretty sure I can still resell it for a profit but how much of one remains to be determined

You will probably make more by parting it out.  94s are not exactly hot items.

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.

Ok, after getting a much better look at this car this morning, it may Not be such a good idea after all..

Convertible top is in fair to poor shape and leaking around the edges.. there are small puddles in the floorboards and the interior wreaks of mildew..
Paint job is in sad shape with key marks and even spray paint on the hood..
3.4L V6 (not a V8) motor was idling kinda rough but smoothed out once it warmed up.

So far I'm in this a $70 Dollar tow bill. I haven't given her any money for the car yet so that's good cause she seriously mislead us.
Even though she is in a desperate situation and will be leaving back to Mexico soon, there is really nothing to be made profit wise; even if I parted it out so we are waiting to hear back from her to see about bringing this POS back to her :-[

Yeah I don't think I'm even gonna drive it back cause the 'Low Oil' dash light is on :scared:
Think I'll just pay another tow bill to get rid of this damn thing

Rig it with explosives, then sell lottery tickets to get to push the plunger to blow it up.

That's one sad looking convertible, would cost several grand just to replace top and interior.  The oil pan gasket in the back and the low oil light probably mean you'd be looking at engine work as well.  But it could just be a sensor issue considering the wiring has been messed with so much.

Cars that have been in floods or been left open for a long time are are a pain to fix up.  Mildew smell is really hard to get rid of, but that's if you want to save the interior, if the car was worth it to rip out all of the interior and replace it then you can get rid of the mildew. But this thing is only worth about $3K in really good condition, with all the stuff wrong with it you'd end up spending that much just to get it up to fair condition.
