Not that I mind if DB decides to take a break for this, but when can we expect the next vote to start?

Oh crap. I guess I thought I already put up the new poll. Sorry about that. It's up now. Looks like I picked the wrong week to start sniffin' glue!

If you haven't posted your reasons for nominating, try and do it sooner rather than later.

Aw jeez, sorry about that, Johnny. I just went back through and saw the Sloan - Twice Removed nomination. You even bolded it. My bad; it'll be in the next poll.

I'll make a habit of posting the nominations as soon as I receive ten of them, so people can correct me if I missed something and fix it before the new poll goes up.

Michael Jackson's Thriller

Nomination didn't make this round, maybe next one?

Woo! My nomination actually got second vote. I nominated Life'll Kill Ya mainly because I was hoping to see some Zevon on the list. Seems like he is really only known for one song. I was going to nominate the album that's from (Excitable Boy) so that maybe more people would give it a listen, but don't really feel like it's his best work. Basically I had it down to either this or My Ride's Here, but feel like this has a better mix of his humorous and serious side.

Yeah, that's an automatic vote from me. I actually grew to prefer Vs, but there's no denying the importance and awesomeness of Ten.
It's too bad Anais.Jude isn't here anymore... she was a fan of Pearl Jam.

I have reason to suspect she's lurking around..... >.>  <.<

Yay, listened to the Nightmare 4 riff yesterday and was worrying about her :)

It was Nightmare 3 I guest riffed on. You were listening to Erica.

She came over to watch our new QuipTrack for Abduction. It was nice to meet her. She was really nice (and laughed a lot :D).

Okay, believe it or not, this wasn't yet another screw up on my part. Your Thriller nomination came in after the final nomination for the current round. It's on my list and will definitely be in the next poll.

Ænima – TOOL

I think TOOL is probably the best hard rock band to come around in the last twenty years. I've loved them ever since Undertow, and their albums have only gotten better, grander, and more amazing since then. This album is a great example of how innovative and unique they are as a band.

Ænima is the first of two TOOL albums I'll be nominating (unless somebody beats me to the second one.) I love everything about this album. It's heavy as fuck at times, and simply beautiful at other times. I think "dynamic" is a good term to describe this music. I'm a huge fan of powerful, melodic, well-executed music, and this has those qualities in spades. The album sort of takes you on a musical journey through a huge range of emotions, from rage to sadness to hope to despair. There's so much raw power and emotion here; listening to the album is a real visceral experience.

From a musicianship standpoint, it's phenomenal. Maynard James Keenan is an amazing vocalist, and drummer Danny Carey is a master technician, as well as just being a huge groove monster.

The album is so well put together, too. I love the way they use interlude tracks to connect the songs together. It really makes for a much more seamless and interesting listening experience. And there aren't any three-and-a-half minute made-for-radio songs here. These songs take all the time they need.

I'm guessing most of you have heard the album at least once, but this is always good for a listen. And if you've never heard it, then buckle up, because you're in for a quite a trip.

So, yeah, TOOL's Ænima. Good stuff.

I'm assuming the next Tool album you'll nominate will be Lateralus? :)
