The Original Football
« on: May 13, 2012, 03:57:08 PM »
So I'm annoyed. I just saw the highlights of the Manchester City game. Two goals in stoppage time... Amazing. I'll admit I don't follow football stuff that closely unless it's the World Cup (silly me, being an American!) or involves the Portland Timbers here in Oregon, but I catch a Premier League game every now and then. I'm quite annoyed I missed that game. Looked like a good one.

Anyways, using that as the opener to a thread about that sport only most of Americans care about when our women win it all and expose their bras in celebration. Chat away!

I watched it this morning.  Was fun.  Pretty spectacular come from behind win to win it all.

Don't care that much for City, but glad to see them win it over ManU.

It was a great season, so happy Man Utd didn't win it. Tottenham didn't do to bad either. Shame we couldn't get top 3, but I'm still pleased with how they did.

I love how they scored two goals in the extra time added to the end of the game to win.  That was wild!

I also love how ESPN and other channels show their games.

Not a surprise.  Italy aren't a great team by any stretch of the imagination, they just caught Germany on a bad day.  Spain are quite an old team, but they're still the best in Europe, if not the best in the world.

Any good teams get called back to the league and any good teams get sent back?

Ehn.  The bottom of the Premiership is pretty similar, skill-wise, to the top of the Championship.  It's just that those teams who do get relegated get a lovely parachute payment (of something like £20 million) to help them keep their players.

Bristol City lost.  Again.  They have the worst bloody record for starting seasons.

Really?   The fans don't go nuts when the teams are either demoted or promoted?
