I do recommend avoiding Ron White at all costs.

I actually find Ron White the only Blue Collar comedian I can stand. I guess it's his dry sarcasm that makes me laugh. But it was mostly this bit:

If you're interested in English comedians, there's a radio show that's available on iTunes called Friday Night Comedy from BBC Radio 4.  The News Quiz that runs there is a great showcase for people you guys may not have heard of.  I think Andy Hamilton, Miles Jupp, Sarah Millican, Susan Calman, and Jeremy Hardy (especially) are all great on it.

Yeah Jeremy Hardy is always good, hard to find good clips though I found.

Stanhope was great.  Pretty sure about 75% of it is basically unprintable for my paper review though!

I like Ron White, his bits on his little dog are hilarious.

And I'll admit it, I like Jeff Foxworthy.  There.  I said it.

Can't forget Brian Regan:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

He's #4 on my top-ten. I think Regan is one of the best clean comics ever. I saw him at the Improv in Irvine a few years back, and almost pissed my pants laughing. I'm talking like can't breathe, tears streaming, stomach muscles are gonna be sore the next day kind of laughing.

My list of 5 favorites would probably be:

The Sklar Brothers

"CHOPPA FOUR!!!"

I love the Sklar brothers. I've probably seen all of the Cheap Seats episodes at least three or four times.

Stanhope was great.  Pretty sure about 75% of it is basically unprintable for my paper review though!

He doesn't fuck around. Any chance you can post the review, or a link to it?

Sure.  This should take you there:

You can read more in-depth about his war with Allison Pearson on the main page of his website.

Thanks for the link. Sounds like it was a great show.

I actually did read about that Pearson thing on his site. I think he was absolutely justified in calling her what he called her, although I think Stanhope probably calls his wife that word. He throws that around more than I use the word "the." My favorite part is where she tried to reprot him to twitter!  :D

I would not want to piss off Stanhope. I remember when he unleashed his army on some random guy who plagiarized Doug on some obscure blog. That was fucking brutal.

On another note, I stumbled across this Gervais bit on gay marriage that had me chuckling.

Stanhope's wife/girlfriend was actually in the lobby selling his merchandise.  She looks pretty wacky!

Bingo does makes for some rather interesting bookface fodder.

Jim Gaffigan is going the $5 online route for his next album. I wasn't super impressed by this sample, but I'm hoping it's just one of those instances where they don't pick the best bit.

Gaffigan is hit or miss. His "Hot pockets" stuff is golden, but his entire first special is pretty much about food, and that got old after awhile.

"Hot Pockets" is a classic.

Another one of my favorites is the manatee bit, made all the better by Squigglevision.

Dr. Katz was such a great show.

And it is only $5. If it sucks it is no big deal. Better than paying $15 for the DVD.

Plus a buck of that gets donated to a good cause.

I picked it up but haven't watched it yet. Hoping to this week when I get back from the Cape.

We saw Gaffigan live earlier this year at the start of his Mr Universe tour.  Really funny stuff and for $5 you can't beat it.  I hope this trend continues with name comedians bypassing Comedy Central and HBO and self-releasing their specials.  Already bought the Louis CK $5 show and that was fantastic as well.
