I hate what happened with the 2016 film. The misogyny is awful of course, but it was SO loud it clouded the whole movie, and suddenly the enjoyment of a movie in my favorite franchise this side of Star Wars became political. Now I can't like or hate the movie (I love it) without making an implicit statement about women's rights.
That's not to say they shouldn't have done the all-female Ghostbusters thing. The cast worked wonderfully. It's the reaction. I just wish it had a chance to stand on its own as just a fun Ghostbusters movie.
